After most of my life in engineering/construction it’s a rare pleasure to endorse a local builder. Those of you who’ve dealt with typical Bay County construction contractors know the usual story all too well: lack of detailed knowledge of construction means and methods, unengaged general contractors, unskilled/incompetent workers, non-existent quality control, non-communicative, non-responsive, and no regard for customer satisfaction. My experience with Panhandle Fabrications Marine Construction: Cody and Rob Small have detailed knowledge of means and methods in marine construction. Quality control oversight is 100% because the company principals are engaged with daily work activities. They put skill and care into their work every day, and go the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction (imagine that in Bay County). Cody Small is a rock-solid communicator….always responsive to questions, always respectful and courteous, and always happy to explain how they do things and why. PF Marine is equipped to perform marine construction almost entirely from the water side with a barge-mounted excavator and vibratory pile driver. This means much less disruption to your property from staging and use of heavy equipment from the land side. For my particular project they drove sheet piles and deadman piles for 68 feet of residential vinyl seawall without operating heavy equipment in my yard. I believe you’d be hard pressed to find other marine construction businesses in Bay County with this capability for residential work at a competitive price. Along with the usual challenges of any construction business, marine construction comes with more than its fair share of unforeseen conditions affecting schedule. My advice is to be flexible as a customer regarding schedule. Knowing you have a quality product in the end will win out every time over the schedule challenges. If you want it bad in Bay County, there are plenty of contractors willing to give it to you bad.
