Sept 28: My home was hit by ***. I need a new roof and other repairs. Dec 21: I gave Roofing Engineered Trusses a call and ********************* from Pegasus Builders came out and did an assessment.Dec 22: ***** a licensed structural engineer with an established business who claimed to be helping hurricane victims. He told me his new truss company could build all new trusses for me in a week and that I could get the vaulted ceilings I wanted. I signed contracts for the roof, trusses and plywood, lanai and interior remodeling. He said he could get all the money I needed to pay for the repairs from my insurance company. Dec 22: I gave him a $15,000 deposit for materials and roof demo. His crew was supposed to start right after Christmas 2022. Nothing happened.January 23,2023: **** asked for $24,000 as a deposit to get the trusses started, which I sent right away.February 13: It had been almost two months since they were supposed to start work on my home and nothing had been done. I confirmed with a Pegasus employee on February 13 that no trusses had been built which made sense since **** said there was a bust in the calculations and he needed to measure my home again. February 14: I canceled the contracts. **** said he would refund my money less any work completed and cancel my permit and contracts. I havent received any money back and the roof permit was not canceled.February 15,2023 I checked with the ******************* to see what permits Pegasus had pulled. The only permit was for a re-roof. Per the *******************, Pegasus should have filed a truss permit including building materials, an engineered drawing and installation instructions. **** told me he does his own roof and truss inspections. Is this acceptable?I want the $39,000 in deposits returned to me so I can get a new roof. I can provide more documentation.
