On September 8, 2022, I sent a deposit of $900 via ***** to Tracey G****-W***** and Matt W***** to hold a stall for my horse at their farm. I was able to use $450 of it for the first month of board in November 2022. The balance was to be held by Tracey for any damages to the property caused by my horse. If no damage was done, I was advised the $450 would be returned upon my departure from the farm. Of note, no contract was ever signed. I moved my horse much sooner than intended and without notice due to mismanagement and unsafe conditions. The owner created a tense environment by getting too involved with recommended vet care and training. The tipping point was that my horse was not getting the agreed upon maintenance and feed. In fact, all three of his containers of grain were empty when he was moved. Tracey also didn't always have a sufficient supply of hay on hand. In addition, Tracey creates a very unsafe environment/fire risk for all the horses as she smokes cigarettes in the barn. I've even seen her in stalls with a lit cigarette. For these reasons, I removed my horse from the property prematurely on December 23, 2022. I asked for my deposit back, but have not received it to date. From the message I received from Tracey, it does not appear they intend on refunding my deposit because I did not provide advanced notice. Of note, I was never told I needed to give advance notice. Given the circumstances, it was important to remove my horse and put him in a facility more equipped to care for him. Tracey and Matt were paid for all of December, but I'm not asking for the balance, just my deposit. While I was there, Tracey also asked me to pick up cross ties ($108) for the farm. She said that she would pay me back, which has not happened. In total, I'm owed $558. Appreciate any assistance in helping with a resolution. Thank you
