we contacted Ard's Awning and *********** *** at *********************************************************** to fix our awnings. They were taken down prior to a storm, and because a painter had incorrectly removed them they could not be installed correctly by me, the home owner. They incorrectly installed them, so much so that we were hitting our head on them. They sent us a for $374.50, but I told them they did not install them correctly, and I wanted them to fix the problem. They told me it would be a few weeks to come back out, and then a few days later I received a knock on the door from them. They treated me extremely rudely, and argued that they did the best they could, but when I showed them their obvious issues. they fixed the problem, but charges me another $374.50. I do not believe it is fair to be billed twice for one job,Business response

Customer requested service and was advised of the charges that would be incurred. When the installers arrived at the customer's house, the customer instructed the installers on what he wanted done. There were 4 awnings. 3 were on the wall and a 4th was on the ground (fully assembled). Customer directed installers on the placement of the 4th awning and the installers did exactly as he instructed. They installed one awning in the spot the homeowner instructed, then added screws/bolts and secured the 3 frames that the customer had installed. The customer saw the work was done and seemed satisfied.
6 weeks later, customer called and said that he hadn't paid the bill because he was out of checks. Then said that he was not disputing the charge, but one of the awnings was installed too low. So the installers went back to raise the awning. They met with homeowner and showed him that the awning had been installed in the same exact holes it had been mounted in previously. There is also an eave over the awnings, so the awning could not go any higher, making it impossible to raise the awning any more. Customer continued to complain and eventually he revealed that he had taken the frames apart and reassembled them himself and that's when the installers realized the homeowner had mixed up the parts and did not put the correct arms back on their original frames, which changed the angle of each awning. Customer wanted installers to then adjust the angle of each awning and the installers advised him that it would be additional fees. He agreed and they did the work the homeowner instructed them to do.
Customer was billed for the time spent repairing the homeowner's mistakes. I would like to point out that we did not originally manufacture or install these awnings and a lot of time could have been saved had the homeowner been honest about what he'd done, instead of having the installers try to "figure it out"
