Earlier this year I took my vehicle to Midas on *************** in ******* *******. I had a check engine couldn't pass emissions test. After a diagnostic fee and test I was told by a manager named ******* that it was my catalytic converter and it needed to be replaced. He then proceeded to give me paperwork showing the astronomical cost to repair my vehicle. I told him I couldn't afford it and he said I should try a finance company they have a partnership with. After reading the outrageous interest rate for the loan I was approved. ******* told me that my vehicle would be ready tomorrow. The following day he called and I picked it up, but even before I arrived home the check engine light came on again. I called him immediately and told me to bring it back, again he said leave it and it would be ready in the morning. The next day I pick it up and two days later the check engine light is on again. I take it to Advance ********* Boys, and Auto Zone to check engine code and all of them said it is the catalytic converter. However to be sure I took it to another mechanic and he read the code and checked the vehicle and said nothing had been done. So I return to Midas and present ******* with all my findings and he was surprised and told me to bring it back Friday when he is back from day off and he would fix it himself. Friday morning I returned and he began to work on my vehicle and came to get me to show me a part he was going to remove and a part in a box he claimed he was going to put on. I nodded because I didn't know what I was looking at and returned to waiting area. ******* handed me the keys and swore it was fixed, a month later the light comes back on and other issues occur. I take it to ***************** for repairs and they informed me check engine light is due to catalytic converter and that its not been fixed. This complaint is about the the deceptive business practices of Midas to defraud customers, fake repairs and push them into financing contracts with exorbitant interest rates. These business is a scheming and scamming enterprise set out to steal, lie and endanger customers with their faulty and fake repairs.Business response

We installed ne convertor on 10/19/21. Customer returned on 1/5/22 and we replaced the O2 sensor at no charge. Customer returned again on 1/25/22 and we replaced converter and o2 sensor under warranty. We have no other record of customer returning after this. According to carfax, customer has drove over ****** miles since we originally installed the convertor on 10/19/21. If the converter is bad again, chances are customers ******* + mile vehicle has secondary issues causing the convertor to fail that will need to be diagnosed and addressed before replacing again.Customer response
