On 7/15/2022, I experienced horrible service when going to Mighty Muffler and wouldn't recommend this business. The mechanics took an unexpected guess when attempting to repair my vehicle. I reported the business to the BBB, and I was told by the staff named **** on 8.19.22 that if I brought the car part back to Mighty Muffler, I was entitled to a full refund. I was partially refunded. They sent a check to my address for $1236. Im owed $386. I'm hoping to resolve this matter as quickly as possible.

********************** was told  by me the office manager that we would refund to her the price of the part only.  We put on a new part, we took off new part, and  we put her original part back on so she could take it to the dealer and gave her a refund for her part only.  Than she put in to the credit card company for a full refund after they denied her refund the first time.  Then after she put in for a second request for a full refund.  The credit card company gave her a full refund for the work and the part that was done on her car.  We put a stop payment on our check.  She is still trying to get us to refund her money and she got it all back from the credit card company.  She is trying to get double payment.  She was refunded $1622.01.  This was taken out of our bank and given to her.  Why does she think that she should get $3244.02 when she paid $1622.01 and the credit card company gave it back to her.

I am rejecting this response because Mighty Muffler notified my bank that they had fully paid me after I returned the car part, and due to this, my dispute claim was declined, and Mighty Muffler was issued a reversed payment for $1622.00. Please see the attached proof.

I NEVER cashed the check I was mailed from Mmighty Muffler for $1,236 because the check was not made out for the amount that they agreed to pay me, and I had a dispute process going on with the bank. The check should've been made out for $1,622.00, and had it been made for that amount, I would've stopped the dispute process. Please see the attached proof.

If I had any intentions on getting $3,000+ from this company I would've cashed the check back in August when I received it.

Mighty Muffler has admitted to placing a stop payment on the check, and they were sent a reversed payment from the bank; however, they have failed to pay me. It's obvious that they haven't paid anything to me.

I'm seven months pregnant and never encountered this much stress from any business! I'm clearly the victim in this situation and I would really appreciate it if the full refund is issued to me as they agreed I was owed for $1,622.00.

      Sincerely,

The ******************* took $1622.01 out of our checking account on November 8, 2022.  She probably has a credit on her credit card statement.  She will not get cash.

7/15/2022. $1,622.00 paid. Catalytic Converter. They put on an incorrect part. The business said that if I pay them an additional $800.00, they will put on the manufactured part. I requested to be fully refunded. They said I would have to pay for labor. I feel I should be fully refunded, being that it's not my fault they put on the incorrect part.

She came to Mighty Muffler for a catalytic converter.  It was replaced with a direct fit converter.  Her engine light came back on.  She came back later and we installed her 02 sensors at no charge to her.  We put on the correct catalytic converter.  We called our supplier and he told us that since it was a turbo and the light came back on it probably would be best to put on the dealers catalytic converter.  We told her that we would order the dealers converter and all she would have to pay is the difference in the price.  She said no that she wanted a full refund.  We told her we would take of our converter and put hers back on and refund her the cost of the converter we put on her car.  She said no she wanted a full refund.  We are not refunding the labor.  We was not going to charge her labor again.

I talked with her on the phone and I was not horrible or disrespectful.  Her husband called me and I did not get to say much at all.  He started cussing and screaming at me on the phone.  I hung up on him and would not answer the phone again.  He also was at our shop and cussing our Manager.

I am rejecting this response because:
I was told by the manager at Mightys Muffler that if my check engine light comes back on that I would need to have my o2 sensors replaced which was also incorrect information. I purchased o2 sensors and the problem was I needed a catalytic converter that fitted a turbo engine as ************ stated. So once again I spent additional money on parts that we're not needed. As I've stated ************ is very disrespectful and I can't believe she treats her customers as she does. My husband was cordial with ************ and shouldn't been disrespected as he was.  I'm pregnant, stressed due to this business and have spent so much additional money due to the mechanics lack of knowledge. I feel as if im being very nice by not requesting any additional funds.

If I was made aware that my vehicle needed a dealers catalytic converter I would've taken my vehicle to the dealership. ************ suggested that I pay an additional $800 for the correct part but proceeded to tell me that she was informed that the vehicle must be diagnosed before giving a quote. I am being scammed. I don't trust the mechanics at Mighty Muffler to do any additional work to my vehicle. I feel the mechanics failed to do their job correctly and should be back flagged for the labor. Therefore, I feel the appropriate way to handle this situation is to refund fully.

      Sincerely,

I took my car to Mighty Muffler to check the code on my car, because when it was scanned it was a catalytic converter code. I ask him if it the catalytic converter that would replace it. No welld*** or cutt*** it out, replace the converter he said yea. I said this because before i had a shop to weld one and mess up my car. I dropped it off on Monday 10. I called later that day and the shop said I need a catalytic converter for 900 and some dollars. He said I needed to also replace o2 sensors and I said OK. The price quote was ****. He said he had to order the part.I called the next day and he said car was done, when I came to pick it up, the total was *******. 134 dollars more. I didn't press the issue I just paid it so that I could get my car. I took the car home. The. Ext day I headed out of town and the check engine light came on. I called shoo and he said br*** it back. I didn't come back in town until Sunday. I took car back to shop Monday 17. I called back later and he said the catalytic converter had to be replace again it wasn't no good and that they need to keep it another day. I went to pick it up Wednesday and the mechanic told me that the turbo system was bad and mak *** the catalytic converter go bad I said OK. So I took my car from that shop straight to fairburn emissions. Meanwhile my check engine light came right back on 3 minutes into driv***. On Mon 24 fairburn emission says there is noth*** wrong with my turbo and that the catalytic converter that was put on my car was no good and that the heat ******* was also not on. He said that they need to replace my catalytic converter with an oem part from **** because that after market catalytic converter is no good. I called the shop and they want me to keep br****** it back when now I don't trust them. I tall to corporate and she was rude tell*** me the shop said it was someth*** else wrong with my car. To Whom It May ************

The first time she called me, I listened to her and told her I would make some calls and would call her back.  She told me she had not driven the car after she left the shop because the engine light came back on. After pulling up her invoice she had driven the car 271 miles.  Her converter was full of black soot.  Our tech replaced the first converter and it was full of black soot also.  We took it to our supplier and he said she had a serious problem with her engine.  It was burning up the converter.  Our Tech said that she had a problem with her turbo.  A converter does not go bad unless you have a problem.  I emailed her a copy of why converters fail.

I was not rude to her.  I called her several times and tried to talk to her.  The last time I talked to her she started cursing and would not let me talk and I told her I was going to hang up. She tried to call back and I did not answer the phone.  If that is rude I am sorry.

      Thank you,
