I was overcharged by Augusta Oral Surgery and improperly billed to a separate company, ** **********, without my knowledge or consent. I was also falsely sent to collections as retaliation for disputing the charges, which violates of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Despite successfully disputing a portion of the charges, I am still owed a $185 refund. I seek a $1,185.61 refund check ($185.61 for the overcharge and $1000 for falsely sending me to collections). Failure to resolve this case with a full refund will leave me no choice but to pursue legal action. Timeline: On ***** ***** 2023 I engaged Augusta Oral Surgery for * ****** ***** ******* and paid $744 upfront. I later found 2 separate charges from that day.: one for $444 from Augusta Oral Surgery and one for $300 from ** **********. I was not told about this beforehand. After reviewing my insurance explanation of benefits (EOB) on 6/22/2023, I confirmed that my insurance covered a large portion of the cost, leaving me with a patient responsibility of only $258.39. I contacted Augusta Oral Surgery to request a refund of $485.61 (the difference between my upfront payment and actual patient responsibility). They refused and tried to balance bill me. I filed 2 credit card disputes related to the charges. The ** ********** dispute was successful, but the Augusta Oral Surgery dispute was denied. Augusta Oral Surgery later sent me to collections in retaliation of my successful dispute, which is illegal. After sending a debt validation letter and filing a complaint with the CFPB, the collections agency dropped the debt. Augusta Oral Surgery still owes me the $185 refund and $1,000 for illegally sending me to collections I tried my best to resolve this matter with Augusta Oral Surgery directly, but they have been uncooperative. Failure to receive a full refund in 30 days will leave me no choice but to pursue legal action.
