After a full year with faithful adoption consultants I cannot describe how disappointed we have been with this agency. After our initial referral to this agency we were excited to begin our adoption journey. The first representative we spoke to told us that their adoption rate was basically 100%. Families either left their services with a successful adoption or decided adoption wasn't the path for them. Not only was this not true but we would come to discover this was an intentional lie later on. Our first agent, Kristen, was nearly impossible to get in contact with. We made multiple phone calls with no response. We eventually reached out to their home office and did not receive a response until 3 weeks after we called. We spoke with the owner of the company who assured us that she would rectify our lack of communication with our agent and we set up meetings for every other week. Our agent called us once and then never spoke to us again. The agency consistently blamed COVID for any deficiencies they displayed. Issues with communication? That's due to covid. Fewer birth mother cases? That's due to covid. We were told most parents were chosen by a birth mother after they had presented their profile somewhere between 40-60 times. We have presented to well over 100 birth mothers and have never once even been told that we were being so much as considered by a birth mother. We begged our agent and even the ********, the owner of fac, to tell us what we could do to better connect with these birth mothers, they gave us absolutely no feedback and told us that we just had to continue what we were doing. We eventually learned from our agent that many of the adoption agencies that FAC works with will choose whether or not they want to present your profile to a birth mother. After speaking with Kristin about several cases that we felt a deep connection to, that despite our willingness to be presented to a birth mother as a potential family for a birth mothers child, the agency they worked with chose to not show our profile to the mother. This agency has consistently promised things they have no ability or desire to deliver on. We were too trusting with them and when we brought up the fact that our contract was for only 1 year, their agent Sarah promised us that no matter what they would never allow a family to walk away without choosing to do so or having a successful adoption. She swore they would never ask for more money from adoptive parents. We were approached 8 months into our contract about extending for an additional year or 6 months for the same fee they had charged from us when we signed up. We found out through our agent that they actually have been failing to connect adoptive parents with birth mothers for some time and they have had many families have to extend their contracts, for a fee of course. They claim all families choose to walk away after a successful adoption or after deciding is not for them. We will be leaving FAC without ever coming close to an adoption and we still intend to adopt through some other agency. I say all of this not just out of anger and frustration, but we hope that other adoptive parents will avoid the same pitfall that we fell into with this agency. There are good adoption agencies and consultants out there, but FAC is not one of them.

The adoption process can be a difficult journey. FAC provides accurate information, advice, and networking services to adoptive families. Unfortunately, this client was unhappy about some of the legal requirements and some of the other businesses in the adoption process. While FAC has no control over these legal requirements, or the other entities involved in adopting, FAC does provide comprehensive feedback and guidance about every step of adopting. FAC maintained consistent communication with this client, as FAC does for all of our adopting families.

The Covid pandemic has affected almost every aspect of life, interaction, and business throughout the entire world. Regrettably, adoption was no exception to the effects of Covid shutdowns throughout much of the United States. However, even with the burdens of Covid, FAC families have continued to benefit from some of the fastest times for matching and placement, and some of the highest rates for matching and placement of any adoption service.

The reality of adopting is that no adoption professional can force a birth mother to choose to place for adoption, or choose which family to place with. No adoption professional can offer a guarantee that a family will get a certain child in a certain timeframe. FAC never has and never would promise anything like that.
