I contracted with Cherokee storage of canton, ** for a storage unit, c23. I was paying the storage rental by autopay. I assumed that the storage company was taking the rental on time, since I did not receive any notices of missed rent. This month, April 2024, I was auditing my payments, checking to see if there were any issues. I found that the April payment had not been paid. So, I called Cherokee storage and asked them why they didn't take the payment. I was told that I moved out in February 2024. I said, that I did not move out and who is in my storage unit? The reply was that I moved out and the company took over my storage unit for themselves.I said that I didn't move out. The person who answered the phone said sorry we are using it now.i Want my storage unit back. These people went and threw me out, falsified records, so they could take it for themselves. Anyone looking for storage space should avoid this dishonest landlord.Business response

This is the notes we have on the pre-existing file for ***************************. The reason he was moved out was because the unit was empty and the door was open on Feb. 7th. When our tenants move their belongings out, they are to keep the door open to signal our office the unit is vacant and available for new tenants. This was a misunderstanding on our end, I was under the impression the unit was vacated therefore I needed to move mister ******** out of the unit. We are not using the unit for ourselves, we have rented the unit to ************************ I will personally reach out to ***** and explain the situation since there is miscommunication on our end. We have a unit that is the same size as *****'s previous unit so I can offer that to ***** with a three month free discount due for the inconvenience. If this does not suit his satisfaction, I will mail him a full refund for the payment he made for this unit he was never able to use.
