My problems with Interlock began when I found large gaps between the Quarrix ridge vent and my roof deck as viewed from inside my attic (looking out). According to the Quarrix installation specification, the air gap should be no more than 3 inches. Mine was 5 inches. Interlock first injected sealant along the edge of the ridge cap in attempt to seal these voids. I didn't work. The eventually did remove most of the cap and narrowed the air gap to 3 inches. The Quarrix installation specifications requires butyl OR latex sealant (types are specified) for all types of roof material except metal standing rib (which use a special "Z" closure). I asked my installers about the sealant. They said they use Geocel 2300 Tripolymer. I examined the removed ridge cap and found that aside from traces of sealant caked to the sides of the ridge vent (repair attempt) there was no indication that any sealant had been used on the initial installation. The Quarrix installation specifications requires fasteners spaced no more than 5 inches. Mine were *************************************************** compliance with the Quarrix installation specification (sealant and fastener spacing). Interlock told me they would do it but I would have to wave my lifetime roof warranty. In addition to the ridge cap, they completely covered over my kitchen vent - causing it to vent into my attic until I found it a year later. Also the rows of metal shingles are not straight, losing about three inches of run under the ridge cap over about 20 feet (terrible workmanship). This anomaly was brought to my attention when solar panels were installed on mounts that I paid Interlock to install (to keep warranty). The mounts were set equally in the skewed Interlock shingle rows which caused the solar panels to be skewed as well. Interlock said they would fix the skewing, but at my own expense (not to mention impact to solar panels/different company rework would also be required.
