Bartow County Water Department has continued to **** me for services at a location where I no longer reside. In September of 2020, I moved from ******************************* where I had service with this company. I called and advised I was moving from the location and wanted to services disconnected from my name. The employee took my information over the phone to verify the account and then I provided a date to have services stopped. Months later I am receiving collection requests. So I emailed their customer service ********************** and was asked for an I.D. to stop the services. This was sent over and they sent me a final ******************* including the months where I did not reside in the apartment and tacked on fees. The water **** tripled! The entire 3 years at this location my **** was paid monthly and never disconnected for non-payment, however, they are saying for just a few months of service, I owe over $1200!!! This is robbery and I do not owe Bartow County Water Company this money. They have not been willing to work with me and have proceeded to send this amount to collections and my credit has been affected.

BCWD has no record of receiving a request for disconnection in September 2020 as stated by the customer.  To disconnect service and final **** an account, our policies require the customer to provide a photo ID to verify they are the account holder.  If ****************** had requested disconnection in September 2020, this information would have been required of her to process her request.  BCWD did not receive this information in September 2020.  ****************** account was final billed in January 2021 due to a new customer signing up for service at this location on January 4, 2021.  ****************** final **** was returned to BCWD by the US ************** as unable to forward.

****************** did request a disconnect for service, through our online portal, on March 18, 2021. At this point in time, BCWD emailed ****************** stating she would need to provide photo ID and that her account had been final billed in January 2021.  ****************** was also informed of the **** amount she owed at that time for this account.

Until BCWD receives an official request for disconnect and photo ID, all ********************** usage on an account is the responsibility of the account holder to pay.  BCWD did not receive a formal request until January 2021 when the new tenant signed up for service.  Therefore, ****************** is responsible for all water usage from the time service was established until the final **** was processed.

BCWD has attempted to address the customer's issues multiple times and in accordance with our standard operating procedures. The customer was non-responsive in making payment, and the account was turned over to *********** for processing, per BCWD policies.
