My father past away ******************* and was trasportted th **** Funeral Home immediatey from his resident. He was embombed immediately. I completed all of the funeral documents, which made me the authorizing person to contact. On Januray 3rd I gave permission to ************ to cremate my father once my father's ex-wife *********** ****** payment. I spoke with Mr. **** and he told me he would let me know once the cremation was completed. I did not receive a call from him, but from his ex-wife, whoms name is not on any offical doumcnets, stating that Mr. Huff called her to come an pick up the ashes. It is **************** and I have yet to receive the deth certificates, which are available becuase I received notification that a **** insureance claim has been paid, which cannot be done without a death certificate or the ashes. Mr. **** should not have contacted anyone except for me to collect any remains or documents being that I am the authoized person listed on the funeral documents nor should he have given the ashes to anyone I did not authoize or give him permission to do so, I want the ashes returend to me and the requested copies of the death certificates immediately.

      Business response

      08/18/2022

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2022/02/22) */ We received the initial call on ********* from the *********************** and the **** for the removal of the deceased person. When we arrived to the residence the **** was present. The remains were taken to the funeral home and permission was given by the **** to embalm. Two additional phone calls were received on ********* from the ******** of the deceased and the sister of the deceased. We were unable to reach the ******** but we were able to reach the sister. They set a meeting to come to the office and meet with the funeral directors. In that meeting it was discussed that the stated **** was an **-**** and that she and the deceased were divorced. So we proceeded to discuss arrangements with them based on that information. The ******** and the sister discussed having a traditional funeral service versus having a cremation and a memorial service. The sister favored the traditional funeral service and the ******** favored the memorial service. Before the meeting concluded it was decided by the two of them that they would have a private discussion and get back with us on their final decision. The following day we called the **** to inquire about the ******** and sister's claim of her and the deceased being divorced. She **** stated that she was not an **-**** but was still married and later that day brought the papers showing they were still married. Acting on good faith that the **** is the primary contact, we continued discussions about the final arrangements. We suggested to the **** to call the ******** and see if they could bridge the gap and come to an agreement. The ******** requested that we collect payment from the **** and the **** wrote a check for the full amount of the services rendered. The **** told us that she and the ******** decided to spread the ashes with permission at the decease's alma mater. When the death certificates were ready, the funeral director called the ******** and she requested that they be mailed to her. The funeral director mailed them the same day. This concludes our interaction with the family.
