    Dear ***************************,I am writing in response to your recent correspondence regarding Creditor Account #: ******** and CYI Account #: ************* I do not accept responsibility for ownership of this debt, I am willing to reach a compromise. I would like to propose a settlement amount in exchange for your written agreement to the following terms:1.     I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding an inaccurate and fraudulent account being reported on my credit profile.     Complaint Against: Carter-Young, Inc.Nature of Complaint: Attempted Collection of Unnotified and Unverified Charge To Whom It May Concern,I am filing this complaint against Carter-Young, Inc. regarding their attempt to collect a debt of $312.50 that I was never notified about by the original creditor, ***** Student ********** lease with ***** Student Village ended in December 2022. I received no communication from ********** during or after my leaseregarding any outstanding charges. There were no letters, emails, or phone calls informing me of a balance due. The first and only notification I received was from Carter-Young, Inc., more than six months after my lease had concluded in the state of Texas.Upon contacting Carter-Young, Inc., I requested a full investigation into the charge, including formal documentation and validation from the original creditor. Rather than properly investigating they only provided a breakdown of the alleged balance. They have continued to pursue collection efforts without resolving the matter or substantiating the debt and refused to respond to me multiple times.I consider this a violation of fair debt collection practices. I was never notified of the charge in a timely or appropriate manner within the state of *****, and I will not pay for a debt that was never disclosed to me by the original business.I request that the Better Business Bureau investigate this issue and that Carter-Young, Inc. halt all collection activities until proper documentation is provided and the charge is formally validated.Sincerely,****** *******

    CARTER YOUNG *** is falsely reporting on my credit. I have never had any accounts with them. Per my research CARTER YOUNG *** is a debt collector. They are falsely reporting to my credit!Account #** are falsely reporting to my credit file and are against my rights and fair credit act. Under 15 U.S. Code 1681d - Disclosure of investigative consumer reports; you are in violation. I have attached the definition so you can see the violation! (a)Disclosure of fact of preparation A person may not procure or cause to be prepared an investigative consumer report on any consumer unless(1)it is clearly and accurately disclosed to the consumer that an investigative consumer report including information as to his character, general reputation, personal characteristics, and mode of living, whichever are applicable, may be made, and such disclosure (A) is made in a writing mailed, or otherwise delivered, to the consumer, not later than three days after the date on which the report was first requested I request to be provided proof of this alleged item, specifically the original application, contract, note or other instrument bearing my signature with ***** ******. Failing that, the items must be deleted from the report as soon as possible. Under federal law, you have 30 days to complete your reinvestigation.     Carter-Young, Inc.120 ************************************************************** ************ Opened January 11, 2011 Balance $515.00 I have tried to get information from ****************************** regarding this debt. They told me they sent a letter to the address on file. I no longer live at that address. I requested correspondence to be mailed or emailed and was told they would not send additional communication and I just need to pay the collection. I have not received any correspondence from the collection company since. I have tried to resolve this debt but ***************************** is not cooperating. (please see online reviews) I became aware of this collection when I looked on my credit report. I do not have a contract/ agreement with ***************************** I am requested this collection be removed and deleted from my credit report. They are ruining my credit because they are unprofessional.

    Based on the BBB's response, I assume I am being accused of having someone other than myself file my complaint based on my words.  I wrote what was suggested to file a complaint with the BBB.  I gave a personal account of my experience with Carter-Young, Inc.  If it sounds familiar, it is probably because other people have had the same experience with this company.  Per your your request, no I did not have or need anyone file a complaint for me.  Again, please view Carter-Young, Inc. online reviews, you will find that many individuals have expressed the lack of professionalism from the company.  I am in the process of independently attempting to get negative marks off my credit.  I am attaching documents to show that I am independently filing disputes with credit agencies too.  Please let me know if you need any other information to proceed with my complaint.

    I am rejecting this response because:

    Hello.

    I have tried to resolve this debt with Carter-Young, Inc.and they were not willing to provide me with the information I requested.  As stated in my complaint, they sent communication to an old address, so I never received it.  Carter-Young, Inc. refused to email or mail the same communication to me at my current address or personal email. 

    As far as **************************** investigation, I have no record of that.  And Carter-Young, Inc. did not report any findings to the consumers contact information.  Carter-Young, Inc. emailed a settlement amount and still not providing the original bill. And yes, this was after my first complaint to the BBB about the company. 

    To the BBB, Carter-Young, Inc. is not a consumer friendly, proactive,or professional company.  Their courteous response to this complaint is a show.  They need to provide me with the original debt via email.  I need to see my bill.  As far as I know, without documentation, they could have come up with a random amount due.

    Finally, I do not have a contract or any responsibility to Carter-Young, Inc.  They chose to buy my debt and holding me accountable for their decision.  And since we are including time frames, I would like to have my original bill emailed within 7 calendar days.

(For clarity, I have contacted **************************** with no results; I do not want to keep doing the same things and getting nowhere).


    Carter-Young, Inc. is rejecting my request to produce and provide the original debt. You conveniently disregarded that part of my reply. I will continue to require the original debt. My request is very reasonable.
