    Champion Heating & Air was hired to install a new **** unit and new parts, and clean ductwork at my vacant home at ***************************************************************************** on April 4th for $8500. **** Tech, ****, called that work was complete on 4 April and I was called by the company owner, ****, to pay invoice on 6 April totaling $8755.30. After arriving at my home on 8 April, I found the **** unit not working, **** trash left under my home, concerns with code violations, parts not replaced, and the ductwork was never cleaned and so I emailed the company with my issues and disputed the charge with my credit card company. On 9 April, I texted **** requesting follow up action and I received a call from **** asking what my issues were and said he could come by and check on why **** wasnt working and also stated he did not know duct cleaning was part of the service but could do it the following week. I called **** with concerns over ***** trustworthiness and requested someone else to perform the repairs. **** replied that he was there during install and **** was working when they left and stated they tried calling me multiple times to schedule duct cleaning and address some issues with the system but couldnt get ahold of me. I never was told work wasnt complete during my phone call on the 4th with the **** nor the 6th with the **** and I have no record of multiple calls from them on my cell bill. **** came to the house and found blown fuse as cause of **** not working and replaced it, but due to the lack of trust from both the **** and ****, I requested that no additional services be performed by their company and instead requested an itemized quote for the work they performed and reduction in price for the items they failed to do and not to code. ***** revised quote deducted $600 which does not cover the $1498.70 in extra expenses that I am required to pay to finish the job, and **** does not agree to refund more than $600.

    The owner, ******************* ,came to do downstairs duct/dryer vent cleaning at our home. We got new ducts replaced upstairs by our HVAC company so we didnt need them cleaned however I asked about the evaporator coil because I learned that could cause ducts to get dirty. He said that if we wanted to get our coil cleaned with pan its an invasive process that costs $250 and he would have to recharge refrigerant and wouldnt recommend it.He said to get a ** light instead for $600 a piece and also for downstairs unit. I stepped outside called my husband and father and they both said do not spend any more since we had brand new ducts replaced upstairs. I told **** that we wouldnt move forward with the ** lights or invasive cleaning and wouldnt spend any more money than we agreed on. I asked if there was something he could spray on the evaporator coil as an alternative option and he said sure. He didnt tell me that he had to cut open my unit or that was an additional charge. At the end of job, he showed me an invoice that needed to be paid on the spot and he tried to charge me $250 extra to sanitize the coil. I told him that I didnt ask him to do the full cleaning of coil and he said he didnt he just fogged it and that costs $250. I told him he said the invasive cleaning cost $250 and then he changed his story and told me that was $550 and sanitizing was $250. I said I can pay you the agreed upon price of $550 but I didnt agree to that extra cost and it wasnt communicated to me. He immediately told me he would put a lien on my home. After going back and forth with him, my neighbor had to get involved. He finally agreed to accept a check for $550 and not put a lien on my home. He didnt do my dryer vent or change filter which was part of job. He said dryer vent was too short and he would damage my vent. The fogger he sprayed has smelled like a spicy weird chemical now for weeks and has given me headaches. I asked him when ***** will go away and he never responded.

    The customer scheduled for us to come to her property and do a duct cleaning on her downstairs system for $550 after she had a remediation done because another company found and tested mold in her upstairs air duct system. She said she chose us because of my NADCA certification and my ventilation mold remediation certification. She scheduled us to come duct clean and sanitize the downstairs system and not clean the upstairs system since the remediation company replaced all the ductwork. She asked if I could quote her on an aggressive cleaning on the indoor ac coil since that is the only part of the system that was affected by mold that the remediation company didnt address. An aggressive coil cleaning involves removing the refridgerant and taking it outside to chemically clean it before reinstalling the system and recharging the refridgerant (which would certaintly cost more than $250). I told her this was not necessary and i did not give her a price for it at that time because of how invasive it was and the system did not warrant it. Instead I suggested adding a fog sanitizer to the ac coil of the second system that she did not want me to duct clean. I told her that was $250 for the extra work. I also recommended a uv light to treat anything around the coil and prevent from future occurance. Which is $600. She walked off and said she did not want to spend more money and I said ok. She returned and said her father recommended to go ahead and spray antimicrobial on the second system coil. (Which is how she rephrased for me to fog sanitize the second system) I said ok I will do the additional work. When it came to payment she saw that I charged for the additional work at the price we discussed. She immediately started screaming so all the neighbors can hear and went into a mental health breakdown saying her husband will leave her if she spent more money. I was confused because she asked me to do the additonal work. At this point with her screaming and breakdown my helper filmed the rest of the interaction to protect ourselves as this was a very unusual occurance. She at this point refused to pay any of the bill. (Which is on video) And I stopped trying to understand where the miscommunication about the bill is and said ok and proceeded to the door to leave. I told her if you dont want to pay for any of the work you received than that is no problem I do not need to argue. I explained I have coverage on my insurance policy that I submit to my insurance for nonpayment of services and they will put a lien on the property to recoup the funds. (As standard practice and law in the **************** to protect contractors.) This is where the customer ran to the front yard. Threw herself into the front yard and leaves and dirt rolling around screaming call the police and help. Which a neighbor showed up to help mediate the situation. I wanted to leave but she said if I did she would call the police. I didnt want to seem like I was guilty of anything so I told her to go ahead and call them so we can make a civil report for her refusal to pay for services rendered. I explained to the neighbor and her husband of the situation and I told the customer just to pay me the $550 for the duct cleaning we agreed upon and I will waive the $250 for the additional sanitizing that she requested on the second system. She continued to refuse to pay because she was afraid I would still put a lien. I said that didnt make sense and it was clear there was no reasoning with her in the mental state she was in. Her father and husband on the phone told her to pay the $550 via check. Her father gave me his phone number and said to call him later when I wasnt around her because he was the one who told her that sanitizing the second system was a good idea. I told them as long as the check clears I accepted payment for the services and couldnt lien and everyone was in agreeance but her. Her neighbor even consoled her until she handed over the check. I edited the invoice to remove the additional work she refused to pay and I left with no further issue. I have video of the incident and whatever documentation needed. I thought this was resolved. But I can provide anything else needed.
