We had exterior work done on our house by JCW Contracting ( siding repair, painting and gutters replaced). The work was completed within a weeks time. We are pleased with the results.JCW Contracting, LLC Response

We are beyond disappointed in the work from ***************** at JCW Contracting. At the end of August 2020 he met with us asking our budget. He assured us the conversion could be done for our budget because it was already partially built but never asked about the interior or exterior finishes, nor fully investigating the needs in detail, which was peculiar. He told us the build could finish in ***** days, that quickly moved to ***** days. He volunteered information that seemed odd to tell a prospective customer about other clients who didnt pay him and how he had been done wrong in the past. He continuously ensured his character, saying he would be physically on site working, not like others. Honestly, there were many red flags in his story, but we were in a situation where we had a loved one who had a hard medical road ahead and she was living in our home. That was incredibly stressful and *** promised a quick build in budget where other contractors were saying a much longer timeframe. Turns out *** says what you want to hear to get the job. That he admitted to us later. He said he worked on handshakes and a small deposit to get on his calendar, a man of his word. At first he refused to send an itemized bid but wanted a contract signed. The bid finally came after weeks and us deciding to interview other contractors. We were almost 60 days in before the first worker arrived. The completion date pushed out every week. In November, he realized he mismanaged the funds and was nearing the end of the budget but we were only about 70% finished. This caused major delays while he accumulated more cash for this project. Workers stopped coming and when we pressed for work to be complete, they would show up overnight after their day job, tired and sometimes high. They were sleeping here instead and strange cars came in an out. We could smell marijuana. *** rarely ever showed up to check progress unless we were angry about the above issues. We began purchasing supplies ourselves and allowing workers to borrow tools because they would be on site unable to proceed without them. We accumulated $4500 worth of receipts and ended up with broken tools, and he refused to reimburse us. The kitchen cabinets came out of another house he was working on and had to be modified to fit. Other finishes were downgraded to accommodate the mismanaged funds. We began to see that we needed to fire him but he had all of our money at this point and many promised that all the finishes had been purchased already. We found many times that was not the case. He had a hard time really knowing what he had already told us and his communications began stumbling over each other, revealing lie after lie. We found that the project was not built to code causing additional requirements from the county. We paid for some of those repairs, again to keep the project moving. When we hired the repairs to be finished by professionals, we found that the initial work was not done properly and had to be redone. He refused to pay for the portion that had to be corrected and has accused us of taking advantage of him and lying about agreements. Interestingly though, I have everything in writing so Im not worried about his own misconceptions or intentional manipulation. He finally admitted to underbidding just to get the project but still refused to pay for what we purchased to keep the job moving. As it stands now, the job is not finished and we are in a tough position of finishing a few things that still arent working properly while he owes us for parts of the project he asked us to hire out above and beyond the other funds he refused to pay earlier. There are so many other details I could add but the point here is, I would warn anyone from hiring this company. I think this project was the epitome of a construction project managed by a con artist. After reading *****' review below, I wonder if **************' increase in requested money was to help continue our project. SMH *****, I'm sorry, sounds like you experienced a similar situation.Review from Ellis F

This company is less than mediocre. We gave them our business because it seems this is standard for contractors in Cobb County as dozens no-showed their appointments. The owner spent his time touting his honesty and character, but as time passed his true character showed through as his habits came to light after he got comfortable. He explained how he had issues with people "making lies about him online", something about lies about porn, and other inappropriate things a business owner should not share with customers. The first issue with his character was he does not do proper estimations for work. He makes guesses then throws numbers out to see if the customer will take it. He never measured anything. He never even looked at anything, just spouted off his mouth random numbers to which he then subtracted work to be performed from the monetary amount. He gave us a quote for a roof repair, sheet rock work, painting, gutter repair, siding, and other tasks then after giving the amount for the job started backtracking on what he would do for that amount. This continued throughout the project to include never doing any sheet rock work and refusing to adjust the sum of the work cost -even though we were told the cost included it. During his estimate he bragged that his company did not need a deposit for the job but required a small amount to be paid for a "good faith payment" for the work to start. He set this amount himself at $225. Then when he showed up the only time he checked on the project he tried to change this amount to several thousand dollars because "he had invested a lot of money into materials..." When I challenged his integrity on this he got observably angry and argumentative but backed down when I told him it reflected poorly on his character to change the terms agreed upon. The next thing is the owner does not have a real crew and does not manage the projects himself at all. He showed up once to try to sell his subcontractors and me items he acquired from another home owner. His crews are mostly non-English speaking people who if you do not speak Spanish you cannot communicate with them at all. They were also unaware we do speak the language and were shocked when my wife caught them talking trash about us in Spanish and were corrected, which is probably a regular occurance. The owner tried to convince us to give him a key to our house and our security code so his crew could come and go as they please. This would have been a major error if we agreed as he does not actually have a crew and sent random people he does not have a real relationship with to perform the work. These crews did a poor job with the work completed. The painting was a single coat in many places which you can see the color they painted over and a lot of places where the paint is a mess. Even better, the painters broke our 75" tv that costs several thousand dollars and denied they did anything wrong. This was deemed our fault for needing it moved off the wall for painting and cost me another several thousand to replace it myself. The crew that did the siding left my gutters disconnected from the house and I did not find out until a storm ripped them loose the next day after they finished. They also left trash and paint cans thrown in my yard when they were finished. One of these guys had a truck that leaked oil all over the concrete and asphalt at my home as well just to top off the experience. We only saw the owner once never heard from him again even though he was supposed to be providing us with an itemized estimate of work performed for our insurance since the work was required due to a storm. He said he would sent it and true to his real character never followed through once again displaying his complete lack of integrity. He was supposed to provide several documents before he started work and also refused to follow through. According to the crews he sent to our home this experience is "better than most" as we were told that most home owners fight with him on nearly every job, throw his signs he demands be placed in the yard away, and other incidents that are not appropriate. Dealing with this business owner is difficult as he thinks he knows it all and will contradict and argue with you if you disagree. I would never hire him again for work on any project because it is a waste of money since he simply calls someone else to do the work and charges for something you could do yourself. You would save money as he pays the subcontractors very little and the customers pay a lot for his "guess-timates"....JCW Contracting, LLC Response

As being hired on a set amount, rhe customer tried to get the crew to do more work than was contacted....
After completing the project they were asked if it was satisfactory and agreed and payed in full ....
They completely belittle me as and individual and wanted me to intently argue with them .
I simply said...that I did say that I didn't need any more money and made sure that they were happy when the work was complete....never mentioned anything about a TV at all .
This is completely a shock to me and I have several customer that will testify to my integrity .
I am sorry if they had mixed opinions....and would have made ever attempt to satisfy there needs .
But , I asked if the job was satisfactory and they agreed with full payment.
I do not understand why as now everything is wrong the job was complete over a month maybe two months ago

This response from this owner further displays his lack of CORE VALUES, specially ACCOUNTABILITY + RESPONSIBILITY + INTEGRITY + HONESTY.
The first false statement he made was that he picked up the check from us and certified the work was completed. The check was given to his spanish speaking subcontractor after the painting was completed. We never saw or heard from this owner after the deposit check was given, even though we contacted him several times for the promised paperwork for our insurance (which we never received still today).
The second false statement is that someone "berated" him. He was questioned about the changing of the deposit amount professionally and I personally told him only that changing terms in a contract after the fact showed a lack of integrity. No one raised their voice or talked to him negatively, though he displayed anger in his own disposition.
His last false statement is that he "...would have made ever attempt to satisfy there needs . But , I asked if the job was satisfactory and they agreed with full payment...." This is not true as he did not come to get the check as mentioned above it was given to his subcontractor and he ignored our requests for the required paperwork, both the release to start the job and the itemized bill. He never came to check the finished project but he cashed the check given to the subcontractor within hours of us giving it. He CHOSE to ignore these requests and therefore this review is due his overall lack of CORE VALUES.
We paid the bill because we agreed to and this is our INTEGRITY. We did not value his services and this review reflects our experience.JCW Contracting, LLC Response

In my response, I asked the customers if they were happy, and if they agreed to give the guys a payment...in which he brought to me.
Again, if Mr *****'s were not happy with the job , he wouldn't have agreed to pay the final payment.
I also said ...if your not comfortable with doing that , I could come by the next day .
I really don't understand, having been in the business for a long time ...and several customers, why they agreed to pay if they weren't satisfied.
They also had a signed contract to send to the insurance company to try to get compensation on a insurance claim that was clearly not storm related , it was a flashing issue on the chimney.
Again, I said that he could send the contract if he would like too, but I wouldn't itemize the cost of being and insurance claim.
That is fraud ...
And still hasn't said that the TV was damaged in any way...
The accusations of Mr *****'s is false.
If I or my guys were at fault , why is this coming out 2 months after the completion.
This just isn't true .Customer Response

The above response from the owner is completely untrue and he is making up details that never occured while passing the accountbaility on other things.
His first issue with the length of time from 1-4 July when this workd was completed is irrelevant because we gave him ample time to repsond and deliver the requested documents. He CHOSE to ignore these requests and therefore we took the only recourse available which is give an honest review for others to see the level of customer service this owner truly provides so they can make a proper decision about taking a risk using his services.
His statements about us attempting to engage in insurance fraud is libel and slander which once again displays the CHARACTER of this person. He is simply lashing out to attack our character to distract from his choices that led to a poor review of his company. We asked for the itemized invoice of the work completed to include all the projects and expenses for our insurance company to determine what they would cover. He CHOSE to ignore this rquest multiple times and argue that it was a waste of time because he believed the insurance would not do their own due diligence. He NEVER spoke to our insurance and NEVER provided any itemized. The "contract" he claims fulfills this request was a job estimate or quote not a contract and nothing was itemized. This "quote" does however state that he would be charging us for drywall work (labor + supplies) to which NO DRYWALL WORK was performed. His team simply painted over the water damaged area to which this could cause a major issue in the future if the area was water damaged, but he never used a ladder to check this just made up the charges and took the payment for work not completed.
We paid for the work completed not because we approved it, we paid because we wanted to be done with this project and our integrity is not in question since we paid promptly even though the work was not completed as described.
The TV that was broken was witnessed by his subcontractors and they told us they called him immediately. His workers removed the working tv from the wall and then replaced it but when THEY tested the tv for operation the screen was damaged. They all immediately claimed no fault but when the painter was taping up plastic over the furniture there was a loud crash which was the tv being knocked over. His team passed this along to him (the owner) and we never heard anything from him.
The review given in accurate and the repsonses from this business owner further reinforces his lack of CHARACTER consistently. This is the important for other customers to be able to see in order to make a safe choice for their purchase choices in the future.

I am completely speechless with the false knowledge...
I cannot believe, after the job was completed Mr *****'s said the work looks fine...
He very well could've sent the contract to the insurance company...but he was trying to obtain money for a storm related claim .....that is fraud.
I would like to say in defense.......if he wasn't happy why did he pay in full .
What he is angry about is after everything was complete, that I said it is unlawful to write and estimate to obtain insurance funds , which was not related.
I am sorry for his bad experience, but I will not commit fraud for Mr *****'sCustomer Response
