On November 8th 2022, we received a quote from ********************* of Gooden Landscaping, LLC for the installation of an irrigation system in our yard. He quoted $2700 and requested that we pay the full amount up front. I did not find paying the whole fee up front to be normal but he stated because we got a discount he required the funds up front. On 11/12/22, we sent a payment of $2700 via Zelle. He responded that same day that he would start the work on Thursday (11/17/22) or Friday (11/18/22). The work did not start as expected. My husband and I saw him in the community several times from the booking date until 12/13/22 and inquired on when he would start. His response was that he would get to our yard but was busy with others within our community.Sometime in March of 2023, **** came to our residence and stated he had some legal Issues. He showed us an ankle bracelet and said he would schedule us later in the month. Once again, he scheduled a date and we kept being rescheduled after checking our appointment date via the email link he sent after payment was made.From April to the end of May of 2023, we saw him in the community on occasion and he kept saying were next and he would get the work started and never showed up.My husband and I finally made a decision after reading FB post within our community and online of similar issues that we would request a refund and no longer conduct business with Gooden Landscape services.On June 1st, I sent him a text asking for a refund and he responded that he would was actually starting the work the following day. We stated that we no longer wanted the services and want a refund. He replied that that my husband and I would get a full refund the following week. We followed up on June 8th and sent a text asking when we would get the refund. He didnt respond. so another text was sent requesting refund. As of today, ********************* the owner of Gooden landscaping LLC has not refunded our $ *****.Initial Complaint

We got a quote from ********************* from Gooden Landscaping to install a new sprinkler system. Original agreement was to pay half upfront as a deposit and half after work is completed. We paid him half on 26th Sept 2022. He said approximate start date is 30 September 2022. He didnt show up. Couple of days later he texted ** saying he mistakenly told ** half, for sprinklers he need full amount upfront. We transfered remaining half on 4th Oct, we paid total ****. **** gave ** a new start date for the work as Oct 12 and again he didnt show up on schedule. After multiple texts he gave ** a new date as Nov 5 and again he didnt show up. Unless we keep texting him he does not provide ** with new appointment dates, for which he ultimately does not turn up. Even though he was so unreliable, we waited till Feb almost 5 months and gave him multiple opportunities to make things right. During this time he was in our neighborhood working on other houses. We got a chance to see his work, on our neighbors property, he made trenches for the pipe and left it open for weeks. He didnt come back to finish the work for weeks and ruined their yard. Finally, we decided to go with a different company. When we asked **** for a refund in Feb 2023, he said 'he cant goto the bank because he is court-ordered to stay home until Mar 2023'. In March, he started making excuses saying that the bank made mistakes sending our checks out, our account zelle has transfer limits of 500 etc. **** still hasnt issued ** a full refund even though he promised he would. After multiple attempts to contact him from our side, he started accusing ** that we are bad customers who couldnt wait because he was having a 'personal emergency' and wouldnt transfer the refund.When we told him we are going to formally file a complaint, he started transferring in monthly 500$ installments. We got 1000$ refund so far. The payments have stopped now and he is not responding to any of our texts or calls. He still owes ** 1500$.
