There was a recess incident that took place on the playground of the school Thursday, March 3, 2022. My complaints are that the students (classes) outside were not properly supervised by the teachers who were sitting on a bench when the child was hurt. The administrator of the school did not provide me with a copy of the incident report nor a copy of the video as I or my attorney requested. Instead, my son was given a 5-day suspension, and I was told that a meeting will take place to determine if my 2nd grade student will face being put of the school but I as a parent am not invited to attend the meeting. There are only 3 months remaining in the 2021-22 school year. This is an inconvenience as public schools are preparing for the end of the year test (Georgia Milestones) in some grades, and I am 1 payment away from having paid over $7,000 in tuition. I should not have to uproot my child and place him at another school this close to the end of the current school year. Both administrators and the other parent stated that the students were simply playing and there wasn't any ill intent of purposely harming anyone, then why was the consequences so harsh? Also, the parent of the injured student asked for reimbursement of funds spent at the emergency room, which should come from the school as I'm sure the school has liability insurance for cases like this. I feel that my son is owed an apology for administration for loudly discussing the incident in front of him, leaving him scared and crying. The school gave my contact information out to the other parent without calling both sets of parents into a meeting to talk about the incident. Luckily the parent was not irate and did not try to inflict any harm against the myself or my son. The school's administration interviewed the students without the presence of their parents which is unacceptable! I did not receive a suspension letter for the 5 days, I was only given my son's coat, bag, and water bottle by the male admin.
