New City Event Center (******************************************************************).My husband and children hosted a surprise celebration for me on August 13, 2023. My husband researched online and found New City Event Center. He paid for the venue on Friday, June 9, 2023, for which he paid the entire cost ($300 deposit and $300 rental fee). After further research, my daughter found an alternate venue for a better value: more parking, a larger interior, more table options, and a longer rental time. As the decorator for the event, my daughter called and texted both numbers associated with New City Event Center (July 9 - 11 and July 15) but she never received a response. She informed my husband who was able to get her scheduled to see the event center on Sunday, July 16, 2023. At this meeting, my daughter determined that the deposit for the location was $300. The assistant stated that someone would have to inquire about a refund for the remaining balance from the owner.After the surprise party occurred at the 2nd venue, I was made aware that my husband never received any of his payment back from New City Event Center. He shared that the $300 rental was not required till 7 days prior to the event (Aug. 13th) but he chose to pay everything on July 9th. Although ample notice (July 11th) was given prior to the celebration date of Aug 13th, my husband shared that the owner only offered to return $200 of the amount paid on Aug. 15th through Cash App.I called and a male from the event center returned my call and stated that my husband was told there was no refund. I stated that we would have to take the next steps to retrieve our refund. The owner told me to take whatever next steps and abruptly hung up the phone. I called on my personal phone and work phone on Aug 16th but have not heard back. We were not requesting the deposit but simply the rental funds of $300. We have given the company both our Zelle and Cash App but have not received a refund as of this date. My daughter has videos.
