I have been a black card member at this gym for over 2 years. I have my sister as my guest and Ive come with her several times as well. I was in a high school relationship, and my boyfriend at the time also was a regular customer. He created a separate account for my sister that I personally tried to cancel once we were Not together anymore. I spoke to ****** at the time, front desk employee with colorful hair. She stated that to cancel the membership my sister needed to make a payment of $50. Without any further explanation, I left, concerned of why would the gym charge my sister such a high cancellation fee. I barely come to this location anymore because I go to LifeTime. But tonight, me and my sister were bored so I invited her to the gym. *****, a front desk representative scanned my card and my sisters guest pass worked without a problem. We were mid workout when he comes up to us and tells us that my sister has an overdue on her account, but that we could finish out workout and come up to the front. Thats when he leaves but ****** comes right after. She tells us that we need to stop our workout now and come handle things to the front. She tells us that my sister has around $250 overdue from a prior account. I tell her that I remember her and shes the person who told me it was $50 to cancel. She says that was not a cancellation fee but an overdue. I asked her why didnt planet explain that to me and she said, and I quote I dont know who you spoke to, but thats how it is. For her to step into this gym she needs to Pay $219. I then asked her for a solution and she stared at me in the eyes with a smirk and somebody laughed from her phone. It seems like she was talking on the phone to somebody while handling customer issues. I then asked for her name, ****** names, her managers name. I then asked for the name of the person on the phone and she said thats not important. I asked to cancel my membership and she did with a smile.Initial Complaint

Planet Fitness twice now has failed to fully cancel my membership and now they have refused to. Last year I canceled it in person with an employee they say never worked there ( It was a very nice younger black girl about 5'2"). Well when it came to my account being closed it doesn't seem they did it and i incurred late fees. The gentleman who runs it said he would remove the 2 late fees and cancel my account around last July 2021. Now in August 2022 my account still remains open despite my cancelling it twice. The gentleman I spoke to at the front counter REFUSES to cancel the membership and claims he will be unable to without me paying late fees I have incurred since my SECOND cancellation. I am not sure how many times I need to cancel this account before they actually cancel it and now they refuse to do anything. This is an extremely predatory practice and they are using it to steal from folks. They should not be allowed to refuse to cancel a membership you don't want and already have canceled. I am certain I am not the only one with this issue. Account Number: ********************************
