Review of the account indicates the IRS rejected the return due to the incorrect entry of the prior year AGI. Per our refund policy, we do not refund for rejected returns but will assist you with correcting your return. The Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) is on Line 11, Form 1040 of the 2023 return. However, if the return was not e-filed and accepted before Oct 15, 2024, we recommend you enter $0 or answer No to the questions asking if you filed a prior year return. The IRS may not have updated their database with the AGI from last year if you did not e-file the return prior to the extension deadline. This is why we recommend you use the $0 AGI amount if the return was not e-filed. An email indicating the reason for the rejected return and steps to correct the rejection were sent to the user’s mailbox. We have refunded the fees for the processing of the tax return as a courtesy. The refund will go back to the card used to pay the fees.

I purchased Taxslayer to file my 2024 taxes. I found this program to be flawed in every sense. The program has a list of categories to import your information in, however if I didn’t import all my information at the time and wanted to go back, this program would not allow me to access that field again, as if it had locked me out. When I finally got customer support, they were of no help, so I went on thinking that it would give me a chance to go back at some point, No, I had to buy an amendment program, another $42! because somehow it filed my taxes without being finished. After days of frustration, We bought Turbo Tax, had no issues, except that Taxslayer filed already, and you can only file ONCE w the IRS. We are still not resolved w the IRS bc of this. The Turbo Tax is correct, but Taxslayer is not! I want a Refund from Taxslayer as their program is flawed and they filed bf I was finished. Customer Service was Zero Help!

Review of the account shows the user has file dwith TaxSlayer in 2024 and two previous years. The user would not need to import the 1040 as they filed with us successfully the year before. The import of the 1040 is the only import that the user cannot be returned to after bypassing. Our program supports the import of the W-2 (ADP only), and the 1099-B through the brokerage account. We also support the upload of various forms such as 1099-NEC, 1099-MISC and 1098-C. As the deadline approached, the import feature for the brokerage account may have been taken longer than normal. TaxSlayer does not file returns on behalf of the user. The user must complete multiple steps to e-file the return. The last step indicated by ‘Sign and File’ in the account. I have entered a refund request for the amended return for the customer. The refund will be issued to the same card that was used to make the purchase.

The software is awful, was able to complete the return on a Simple Free version and when was ready to e-file. I entered a promo code and it instantly upgrade the version to Classic. When I called customer service to see if they can downgrade my package to my original version. They would not do it. Total rip-ff!

Unfortunately, the account began in the Classic Edition and does not qualify for the Simply Free Edition. The user has used the Classic Edition in the three previous tax years as well. The Simply Free Edition allows for the basic return without any adjustments, credits or dependents. This return contains dependents, additional income and credits. Additionally, the income is more than we allow for the Free Edition. Visit https://www.taxslayer.com/# (What is a simple tax situation? See if you qualify.) for the information allowed on a Simply Free account. No funds for the 2024 account have been collected. Only an extension has been filed which is free. There is no promo code added to this account. The user is a long time customer so we are happy to offer a free federal Classic return for the 2025 tax filing year. When you log into the account in January, the promo code will be applied. If you do not see the discount applied, reach out to us before filing the return.

Taxslayer did my 2024 taxes. My state return was wrong. I had to go thru the hassle of filing an amended return and ended up paying instead of a refund. I will never trust them to do my taxes again.

Review of the account indicates the customer added the same W-2 two times. The 1099-R entries also have the state information entered twice. This is not due to an issue with the program but is a manual entry error. The customer needs to amend both the federal and state returns and remove the duplicate entry for the W-2. The second state entry for each 1099-R will also need to be removed.

I used Tax Slayer for my 2024 tax year for the first and last time. I believe that they are not truthful in regards to charges. I was understanding that I was to pay ***** total and tried to pay the fee with a credit card instead of having it taken out of refund but doing that was difficult because it wouldn’t go through and I even emailed them saying “did you receive my payment “ and no response. So out of frustration I let them take the fee out of the refund. I was to receive *** from fed and *** from state. I received *** from fed and never got my state. So after a few calls to IRS and them putting a tracer on it they suggested I call tax slayer so I did. Well now they told me the total fee was ***.00 and that wiped out my state refund plus *.00 of my fed. I feel that they were dishonest in not disclosing the total fee and I will never use them again.

      TaxSlayer.com

      Date: 03/10/2025

Review of the account shows the TaxSlayer fees were indeed $**.**. The third-party bank charges a fee of $**.** to use their service and have the fees deducted from the refund rather than paying them upfront. This brings the total to $***.**. When the customer enters the e-file process, the option to have the fees deducted from the refund is displayed (if the user qualifies). The customer must agree to the fees and sign the agreement indicating they agree and understand the fees. The user is not locked into having the fees deducted from their refund until they e-file the return. They can restart the e-file process if they agree to have the fees deducted from the refund and then reconsider prior to e-filing. This is disclosed prior to e-filing.

My federal taxes are being held up with the IRS and you can't talk to anyone, I've received 2 different letters telling my I'll have to wait 60 days which is now 120 days and TaxSlayer just sent me an email stating that they're going to hit my bank account for the fee owed they don't care what the IRS is doing, they just want their money, they don't even want to help to find out what the issue is. I will never use this company ever again

Customer contacted us on ****2024 regarding the outstanding program fees. We indicated that the user choose to have the fees deducted from the refund. The user did acknowledge this to be true. That agreement states that the fees are due when the IRS funds the return or within 21 days if the IRS does not process the refund, whichever comes first. The agent indicated this in the call before the customer hung up.

If the customer received letters from the IRS indicating an issue with the return, copies of the notice should be sent to us at *********************. If the IRS only states there is a delay in processing, the user will need to reach out to the IRS. We are not able to determine why the IRS has not processed the refund without the notice.

I'm a small business owner, and chose to go with Taxslayer for my 2023 taxes. While their website and interface were user friendly and easy to use, I felt rushed through and I had additional information to enter and was not provided opportunity to do so. I received a letter from the IRS a few days ago indicating that there were glaring errors in my return, to include several pages missing. Some to include the first two pages of my return, proof of income, and then proof of quarterly taxes filed. Whether this was a glitch or not, something like this should not be overlooked. My wife and I double checked everything before we even hit submit! Everything was there. The review page even said as much. When I've done everything within my power and capability to file my taxes, in accordance to the material provided by the website, and the IRS kicks it back for information missing; then that leaves a lot to be desired to the efficacy of Taxslayer. They have lost my business from this day forward.

The program is a self-preparation program. The user moves through the program at their own pace. If using the Guide Me feature, the user is also able to stop and re-start at their leisure. Customers are never rushed through the process. If the customer has received a notice from the IRS, they can send it to us for review. Although we cannot assist with gathering your documents and sending them to the IRS, we may be able to assist in reviewing the return for items the IRS may be asking about

I have always used TaxSlayer but it is now very misleading and greedy with charging. The only reason i used taxslayer is because of their " file your taxes for free" that they advertise. I meet all the criteria to file for free, but was charged $82.90 that they hide in the 18 pages of the terms and agreements that i accepted. Can you say "bait and switch"? Never again! Their greed has now cost them a customer. I do not like companies that do not do the right thing! Bye TaxSlayer you have reached a new height of greed and deception!!

Review of the account shows the customer was upgraded from free to classic when the Itemized Deductions (Schedule A) was added to the account. The free filing is for users who have a simple W-2 return, no dependents and the filing status is single or married filing jointly. The customer did not reach out to support with their concerns. This account has filed using the Classic edition for the last 3 years. The program fees are clearly listed on the Summary/Print screen and within the e-file process. The customer is not obligated to pay the fees until they wish to file or print the return. While the cost of doing business rises each year, we have tried to keep our customer rates as low as possible while still being able to provide a quality product and remarkable customer service.

The only reason i used taxslayer is because of their " file your taxes for free" that they advertise. I meet all the criteria to file for free, but was charged over $100 that they hide in the 18 pages of the terms and agreements that i accepted.I created an account with ******** banking card that taxslayer offers, then they put the wrong account and routing numbers on my 1040 and filed it. The ******** card is a rip off with there monthly and a.t.m. fees! The IRS is reviewing my return, saying I have to verify my identity, and verify the return that taxslayer prepped and filed.I can't get anyone on the phone, and have to schedule an appointment at a local IRS office. The earliest they will see me is over two months after the date they accepted the return. I have absolutely no help from them. The mobile app is garbage, for I couldn't access my return or my 1040s from the app. It has one headache after another. I will never use this app again.

Review of this account shows two usernames were created and e-filed for 2023. The first username did start in the Free package but has the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) included. Due to the EITC, this account was upgraded to the Classic package. When an account is upgraded, the reason for the upgrade is shown in the Summary/Print or e-file section under ‘Why was I upgraded?’. This return was e-filed and rejected as a duplicate since the other return had already been e-filed under the second username. No fees were collected for this return. The second username has been used in prior years to create and file returns. This account was started and filed using the Classic package. At no time was this account free. This username does not qualify for the Free package due to the Earned Income Credit on the account. The Earned Income Tax Credit is equal to approximately 1/3 of the total refund. The first username did start in the Free package but also has the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) included. Due to the EITC, this account was upgraded to the Classic package also. When an account is upgraded, the reason for the upgrade is shown in the Summary/Print or e-file section under ‘Why was I upgraded?’. This return was e-filed and rejected as a duplicate since the other return had already been e-filed. No fees were collected for this return. The File N Go fees, which allow a customer to file the return and elect to pay the filing fees out of the refund, are outlined before the customer can file. Once the customer chooses this option, they must acknowledge the fees and are shown the refund amount both before and after the fees. Customers can choose to pay the fees by debit or credit card and not use the File N Go option. The File n Go bank information is listed on the return to allow the IRS to send the deposit to the third-party bank. The third-party bank receives the refund, deducts the fees, and passes the remaining refund amount to the taxpayer using the banking information the customer listed in the account. Due to the increase in tax-related identity theft problems, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is closely monitoring tax returns. When the IRS suspects a return is fraudulent, the agency will request identity verification (generally done online) from the person whose name and address is listed on the return. The IRS may be asking to verify the ID since the return was filed multiple times without containing the Identity Protection Pin issued by the IRS and not as a result of the program or the File N Go option. Since the customer chose to receive the refund on a Green Dot card, he would need to contact the third-party bank for the routing and account number needed to verify his identity with the IRS.
