On 12/14/2023 my 14-year-old daughter was scheduled to have her hair done by HairbyMaiya home based salon. I asked my daughter to contact the hair stylist to notify her i would be accompanying her to the appointment for safety reasons. ***** stated that her policy is, no guest allowed in her home. I reminded ***** that my daughter is a minor and ***** although a hair stylist, is a stranger. I felt it would be best to remain with my daughter until the work i paid for was completed. ***** refused stating she will not allow "guest" in her home. No where in Maiya policy was it indicated that "guest" referred to parents of minors. Considering this business is home based, not only is policy unnerving, but it is also dangerous. Due to the home-based salon's unsafe policies, I proceeded to cancel the appointment. I believe it is unfair that ***** would charge me $118.75 for service not rendered related to unsafe and unclear policies. Maiya policy should make it clear for parents of minors to understand, that their child cannot have the safety of their presence while they are in her home. A clear policy indicating parents of minors are considered "guest", will allow parents, such as myself, to make an inform decision, based on risks and benefits of the service to be rendered. I have tried to reason with the stylist with no success. I am requesting help with this dispute.
