********* ** 2023 I called this pawn shop to speak with the owner to see if they have any grace periods because my ticket is due on the **** but I’m not able to pay until the **** he mentioned if it’s anytime before ******* * it would be a $5 late fee I came in on ********* ** to redeem my items with the full amount they mentioned I was charged a double late fee of $46 and if I would i have came on ******* * I would have been to late to get my items I deal with a lot of pawn shops in the area faithfully and never had a problem with paying and picking up my items I never lost anything to a pawn shop if it’s any late fee that I’m responsible for paying I don’t mind paying but it’s very clear he mis informed provided me false information over the phone for me to lose my items I’m sure I’m not the only person been a victim to this and his only response I been doing this over 40 years I’m going to retrieve my items next pay day but I will be taking further action against this company I’m starting off by making this complaint ********* ** when I came I I paid the double late fees of $46 to extend my ticket but I still owe the balance that’s on the ticket The other pawn shops in the area know me well by name and face I’m always pawning and picking up items mainly gold I just wanted the experience with this company and it has been horribleBusiness response

The customer called in reference to her ticket that was due on ********* ****, 2023. She was told that she would only be charged an additional $5.00 if she paid on or before the 6th day from the due date printed on the ticket. The customer did not come in on or before that date, that is why she was charged what she was charged. It is not uncommon for customers to call and ask us to hold their merchandise. That helps us from listing somebody's merchandise for sale when they would like to redeem it. We have many customers every month we do this for. Some are over 30 days past due, and we still hold their merchandise and there is not a problem. This customer came in after ********* **** and that's why she was charged. The customer acknowledged that she had 6 days to pay these charges, and there was not a miscommunication with the amount. The amounts were even circled and brought to her attention when she first came in here.Initial Complaint

Purchased chain for $266.00 that was supposed to hold my fathers ring. The chain started breaking up and they told me the ring was too heavy. I reminded them that I specifically asked if this chain would hold the ring and was told yes. They attempted to repair the chain but would not replace it or refund me. The chain continues to break up.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2022/01/25) */ When our sales clerk originally sold this ring, she did not have the class ring with her. The chain broke, and we repaired it. It broke again, and that time she brought the class ring back with her. It was a big, heavy, man's steel ring. You need a big necklace to hold something that big. We offered her a bigger necklace at a discounted price that would do what she needed, but would not pay the difference in the two necklaces. The necklace she originally bought, even though it was damaged, we offered to exchange it if she would pay the difference. She refused. Customer wanted us to give her a necklace. that cost 3 times more in lieu of her necklace. Consumer Response /* (3000, 10, 2022/02/02) */ why did the company lead me to believe that the necklace I was purchasing would hold the ring. They held the ring and informed me that the "this necklace right here would do it" and that is the necklace I purchased. Now they tell me they can exchange this necklace for a bigger one for 750.00 more dollars. He admitted when I brought the chain back that the ring was to heavy for that chain. I am confused as to why he will not help me as they told me initially the chain would hold the ring. Business Response /* (4000, 12, 2022/02/03) */ The customer did not have this big, steel class ring when she originally came in to purchase a necklace. We had no way of knowing the steel class ring was so large, and the customer would not spend the kind of money needed to do what she was planning to do.
