On or about 7/30/22, my daughter, *****************************, and I visited this business and inquired about buying a used 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. The car was not represented to have any mechanical defects or problems despite being sold as is. We were not told of any changes made to the vehicle by the dealer that would disguise any mechanical defects. We purchased the vehicle on or about 8/2/22 for ********, $1156 of which was an extended warranty, and $7491.25 of which had to be financed through ********************** On or about 8/3/22, the check engine light came on. We returned the car to the dealer who claimed they would take it to their mechanic for inspection. Their mechanic claimed that the car needed a new catalytic converter, and that we could have it repaired for $100 by their mechanic, which we paid. On or about 8/4/22, the car was returned to us, and on or about 8/4/22, the check engine light came back on. On or about that same date, *****************************, a mechanic we contacted to inspect the vehicle for us, found an aftermarket device attached to the vehicle that had been installed to disguise the fact that the check engine light kept coming on. We eventually installed a catalytic converter onto the car ourselves. On or about 9/19/22, the car's transmission began slipping so severely that it was unable to continue to be driven safely and is not currently functioning. The dealer knew or should have known this car had major mechanical issues and sold the car to us knowing this as evidenced by their use of an illegal device to disguise mechanical issues with the vehicle. I believe they did not act in good faith when they sold this vehicle. They have been known to do this to other consumers in the community.

***************** and her daughter came in on a Saturday to look at cars for her daughter they liked the Equinox that we had and were gone for about a hour test driving the vehicle my daughter was coming from her home outside of town and actually passed them while on a test drive they took the car to her dad to see and came back to the dealership and asked about purchasing it.***************** obtained and co-signed for a loan then came back a couple days later and purchased the car and also purchased a warranty everything was fine for a couple of days then the check engine light came we arranged for her to drop it off and we sent it to a mechanic and a 02 sensor was replaced the deductible was 100 dollars which I had told her dad about. Her grandparents picked up the car for and the check engine light came back on we told them to bring it back and we would have it checked.******* got very angry and cursed my daughter and then I spoke with her and she cursed me I contacted her dad and explained what happened and told him that we would have the car looked at again because there are more than 1 sensor on it.After speaking with him I thought everything was ok.Lets go back to time of purchase ************* runs a local blog in town praising my wife and Appalachian Auto Brokers for taking the time to help his daughter on the purchase and highly recommended us then a couple weeks later recended the post blasting us to which many people got angry at him because he would not let others blast a business so he took it down

So in response we do our best to check out the vehicles however they are used and no one knows when and what time something can happen we have seen this car on the road every day driving around town

I am rejecting this response because it is not a matter of buying a car with mechanical defects. Everyone expects a used car to have some minor defects. It is a matter of acting in bad faith, which Appalachian Auto Brokers has done. They attached an illegal device to the car to disguise the fact that it needed mechanical work. I have attached a copy of the photograph sent to me of the device from the mechanic we obtained to perform work on the vehicle.

The vehicle is currently experiencing transmission issues, and I believe Appalachian Auto Brokers knew full well it had all of these issues when they sold my daughter and me the vehicle, thereby acting in bad faith.

      Sincerely,

      ***********************

We attached nothing illegal to the car we replaced a 02 sensor what some onedid before we purchased the car we have no control of all cars are checked out to the best of our ability and are sold As Is you purchased a great warranty that will cover any issue you are having but again I see this car driving in town about every day .

im sorry you feel this way but you took this vehicle to your husband to look at and were gone for over an hour then came back the next week to purchase seems to me nothing more than buyer remorse
