I entered into a lease with a roommate and fulfilled the terms of the contract. The contract is set to end 9/7/22. Not only did I provide my 60 day notice to vacate, I did vacate and provided the leasing office with my keys. My roommate and I received a contract renewal offer which I declined. However, both corporate and the local leasing office are stating my lease will renew 9/1/22 at a month to month rate of $2,255 (a 61% increase) if my roommate cannot qualify and afford the unit he is living in beyond 9/7 or if he does not provide his notice to vacate. Per point 6 in attached the leasing contract, "Either party may non-renew and terminate this lease at the end of the initial term by giving a written non-renewal notice prior to the end of the initial lease term." I have fulfilled the terms of my contract and Park at Kennesaw/BH Management can take action against my roommate, but it is illegal for you to extend my contract against my written consent, which is also included. I will not be charged a ***** for anything that happens between BH and ******, my roommate considering he is the negligent party. I will seek legal counsel if this matter is not resolved this week. Please confirm receipt and confirm my lease will end 9/7/22 with no penalties for the actions of other people.
