On Fri 6/3/22, I booked an appointment for Tues 6/7 to get my hair braided at this establishment and paid a $40 deposit to this company's booking site. On the next day, Sat. 6/4, I called the owner and asked how I could change the appointment to reflect a different hairstyle. She told me to reschedule on the website. I to do this, but the site wouldn't allow me to make the change because the timeslot showed as booked. So I canceled the appointment altogether and created a new appointment, but It STILL did not allow me to book the new appointment because the time I canceled was continuing to show as "booked". So I found a Monday 6/6 slot to book the style I wanted and was required to pay a second $40 deposit. The same day, I ended up canceling the second appointment and booking elsewhere. The owner refused to refund my $80 deposit and stated there is a "no refund" policy. I have screenshots of the booking site, and there is no such policy written anywhere. I would never have booked an appointment and certainly wouldn't have canceled an appointment if there was a "no refund" policy. Even upon cancellation, the site never stated nor warned that my money would not be refunded. I even asked the owner if the $80 could be applied toward a future hair styling, and the owner replied that it could not. She offered that the $80 could be used to purchase items from her shop, but I am not interested in purchasing items in her shop. And why would she allow me to use the $80 to purchase items from her shop but not allow me to put the $80 toward a new hair appointment. Now that I see how dishonest and unethical this business owner is, I also would never want to have her style my hair. I want my $80 to be refunded as it is unethical for her to take customers' money without providing a service and unethical to impose an unwritten policy on customers. I am attaching screenshots to show that the booking site does not state a "no refund" policy exists.
