I called Tommy Chancey Plumbing to install a new water heater at my house. They installed a water heater that they provided. The water heater is located under my house. The Temperature & Pressure Relief valve started releasing pressure 3 to 4 times a day. I called them and they sent "Ed" out to look at it. He said they should have installed an expansion tank and a Pressure Reducing Valve. He said if you want a new T & P Relief Valve, I'll install one, but that's not going to fix your problem. He installed one and left. Two hours later the Relief valve opened and did not close. My wife heard the water running and I went under the house, which was flooded. I couldn't get the valve to close all the way so I turned the water off and called T.C. Plumbing, the girl said they probably couldn't get back out there today, but she would try. I waited until 4:00 PM and they still hadn't got back, so I went to *** ******** and bought a new T & P Relief valve and changed it out myself so we could have water that night. When I took the valve off that Ed installed, I could tell that it was an old valve. It still had old dried up, pipe dope on it. Ed had only used ****** tape. I can't prove he knew it was bad, but I expect he did. The next day "Joey" came out and installed an expansion tank at no cost to me. He said I needed a Pressure Reducing Valve and I told him to go ahead and install it. That night when I took a shower, I couldn't get the water to adjust to a warm temperature. The next day I went under the house and discovered that Joey had installed the PRV valve after the cold-water supply line to the tub. A PRV valve is supposed to be installed before anything else. I called T.C. Plumbing and told the girl that Joey had installed the PRV valve in the wrong place and that I needed to talk to someone. She said she would tell the owner to call me. He never called. I hired another contractor to move the valve and that corrected the problem with the shower.

      Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 12, 2022/01/27) */ ************************************************************************************************************* I tried to resolve the problem with Mr. ******, we sent a plumber to him 3 different times, when I found out a thermal tank had not been intsalled I sent my plumber back to correct it at no charge. I told my plumber to check water pressure and it was alot higher than recommended so told Mr. ****** it would require a pressure reducing valve, we installed that at a discounted price and he was still not happy. We have found we just can't make everyone happy so I just decided it was best not to deal with that customer again Consumer Response /* (3000, 14, 2022/02/01) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I stated in the original complaint that they came back and installed the thermal tank and that I agreed to pay them to install a pressure reducing valve. As I stated in the complaint they installed the reducing valve in the wrong place. I attached pictures of this and also stated that by installing it after the water line to a shower they caused the mixing valve to not work properly on the shower. I called and asked the girl if I could speak to someone over Joey that knew something about plumbing and she said she would have the owner call me. He never called me back and I hired another contractor to correct the problem they caused. To blame me for not being happy with something a job that is done incorrectly and causes other problems is unacceptable. That was their attitude from the beginning. All I did was hire them to install a new water heater. Business Response /* (4000, 16, 2022/02/03) */ I will refund Mr.****** his money for the pressure reducing valve Consumer Response /* (3000, 18, 2022/02/04) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) He doesn't say if he is agreeing to pay the amount I requested ($321.27). Please clarify. Business Response /* (4000, 20, 2022/02/10) */ We will refund the charge of us installing the Pressure Reducing valve. Consumer Response /* (3000, 22, 2022/02/10) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I thought I was dealing with a reputable business and in good faith I paid Tommy Chancey Plumbing to do a simple job. His plumber, Joey, was unable to perform the job correctly and the owner of the business was unwilling to follow up. After waiting on him for 10 days I was forced to pay $321.77 to have another contractor to do the job correctly. I should not have had to pay the extra $321.27 and that is how much it will take to resolve this complaint. Business Response /* (4000, 24, 2022/02/17) */ I will not pay another plumbers bill, Like I said, I will refund our charge ! Consumer Response /* (3000, 26, 2022/02/21) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The total charge was $248.44. If this is the amount he is offering to pay, I will accept this amount upon receipt. Consumer Response Satisfied with refund.
