Our German Shepherd, Tuco, was boarding at Johnson Ferry Animal Hospital from May 17 to 27. During that time Tuco developed a serious infection. On May 27th our dog sitter picked up Tuco. Tuco was boarding at the vet because we wanted to make sure, if needed, he would have medical attention. When the dog sitter picked up **** she noticed marks on his leg, he was urinating, drinking a lot of water and had a foul smell. When we returned home on May ************************** lift himself. We checked him and found a large hairless, p**** area on the side of his leg. We immediately took him to Emergency Vet of ******************, who assessed that he had an infection and a fever of 103. The vet shaved the area, cleaned the infection, provide fluids, antibiotics, pain medication and was able to reduce the fever. Tuco came home on May 30th but was not able to walk or stand. During the night he started having seizures so we decided the best option was to euthanize him. I called the vet several times to check on Tuco and was told very curtly that he was fine during his boarding. When I came home and realized that he was not doing fine I reached out the vet again via e-mail. When I talked to Dr ****** at Johnson Ferry Animal Hospital he stated that it was good that Tuco was near death. He also called me back later and said he thought **** had been bitten by another dog, which the vet at the Emergency Vet of ****************** said is not accurate. This vet needs to be investigated for animal abuse. He allowed my dog to have a serious infection and did not treat it. He stated it was good that my dog was near death. Dr ****** should not be allowed to work with animals. I have submitted this complaint to the licensing division of ** Secretary of State and wanted to make you aware as well. The vet's name is Dr ****** and the license number is ****. The facility address is 555 Johnson Ferry Rd, ********, ** *****. I think it is important that the public knows about how my dog suffered and died as a result of this vet's negligence.
