Two problems the first was November 23rd when the roofers came an hour and a half early before 7:00 a.m. and started working without informing me. They had parked their dumpster directly in front of the only exit from my house and property and I stepped on ***** nail that kept injuring my heel which still hurts till today. This wouldn't have happened if they had informed me that they were starting to work early or had any communication with me that day. Also it wouldn't have happened if they hadn't blocked my entire front entrance with their large dumpster. We have video of the incident. They compensated me $750 for the ***** nail into my heel. 3 weeks later when I came back from out of state to view for the first time the work they had done, I found nails and roofing materials all around my house. I contacted them back and told them that wanted the nails and all their roofing materials removed. They did not remove them all. After this I got two more nails in my tires which caused damage to the side walls therefore I had to have the two front tires replaced. It caused me to miss an appointment and spend all day at a tire repair shop waiting for them to work me in. All I'm asking for is the direct cost of the two tires which is $583. I attempted to work with them and do not have any resolution yet even though I've sent them pictures. Even recently I have found another nail in my driveway. It would be different if this had occurred while they were on the work site and not after we had even had them come back a second time instructing them to clean up their nails and mess.

The client already took $583 thru their credit card merchant.  See attachment.  We did not dispute it.  This is already resolved.

I mailed a package of documents, an independent inspection report, and photographs to explain my complaints against Findlay Roofing. I want Findlay Roofing to refund the full amount I paid for the installation of a class 4 roof system. Also, I expect Findlay Roofing to pay me enough money to have all of the exterior damages and defects to my home restored as necessary. The exterior damages and defects are separate from the roof system complaint. I was told by the BBB to mail the information to the **********, ******* address.

      Business response

      12/27/2023

To Whom It May ******************** style="font-size: 0.875rem;">Attached is our signed proposal stating we are not responsible for incidental damage.  The roof does not leak either.  There has been no communication to Findlay Roofing about any problem with the roof or the roof installation. Findlay Roofing is unaware of any issue, damage or defect to the class 4 roof system that we installed for **************** 8/16/2023. We have been out and visually inspected the roof on 8/28/2023 and determined that it is installed to building code and our specifications.  We have no reason to believe that this roof would need to be replaced or refunded, since to our knowledge, it is in proper working order.  This warranty is held by Findlay Roofing, not Atlas. He is referencing an entity that has no jurisdiction with our work.

Regarding the exterior damages he is referring too, by **** own admission to our representative, he had preexisting damage to the vinyl siding that he was wanting to replace and was not able to find replacement vinyl siding due to it being a discontinued product.  He was upset that we installed kick out flashing on the front of the house, however this is required by building code specifications. Also, it should be noted that he had kick outs previously installed on the chimney that Findlay Roofing was not responsible for.  He mentioned that he had aluminum fascia wrap that was bent and he wanted Findlay Roofing to be responsible for fixing, however there is no proof that this is something that we caused.

So, in response to these issues, we do not agree that Findlay Roofing should be responsible for the full financial obligations to repair or replace items that we did not damage or to refund the cost of something that is in proper working order. Please note that we did offer a $10,000 to compromise to prevent lawyers from getting involved. However, he refused. At that point we stopped negotiating as he was being unreasonable.

Via an email response from *************************** dated 03/16/2023, prior to having my roof replaced, it was stated that we were getting "***** Corning TruDefinition Duration shingles. These are a class 4 shingle for insurance purposes." Fast forward to 08/12/2023 when I requested the "roofing installation information and certification for reduction in residential insurance premiums" form be filled out for State Farm. *************************** responded via email and stated that my "shingles do not qualify" for the insurance discount as class 4 shingles were not installed on *******. Misrepresentation of what was to be installed and what was actually installed.

      Business response

      08/16/2023

We unintentionally installed shingles that are not classified as class 4 shingles.  We sell this current product with 95% of our clients and it was misunderstanding with our sales rep.  We have offered a discount to the homeowner due to this mistake. I have sent an email and called to take to finish line. We are waiting to hear back.

We chose Findlay Roofing after researching roofing companies around the ************* / Cherokee County area. Findlay Roofing is on ******************* and **************, and it appears from all research that they are a good roofing company with good reviews, however we have had nothing but problems. Our whole roof was installed on January 26, 2023. Since then, we have had many problems and countless return visits for issues with our install and it is now June 27, 2023 and we still have on going issues. 1) Findlay Roofing subcontracted out our roof to a roofing crew that was not supervised correctly by Findlay Roofing. 2) We had a roof leak immediately after installation due to poor roofing installation. 3) The ridge vent was cut incorrectly. 4) Our HVAC vent pipes were taken out of building code. 5) We had two colors (black and white, no one asked what color we wanted though) of drip edge installed in various places around the roof line which looked ridiculous and Findlay came back and painted the drip edge in some areas to match. 6) The flashing was not removed and reinstalled properly at our fireplace causing issues with our siding. 7) We have consistently had issues with the back roof edge. We have been told it wasnt installed correctly at the gutter/drip edge and is lifting the shingles. They came to make it better, however, it is still not laying down and is wavy along the back roof edge of our home. 8) We included a new chimney vent in our quote and this had to be installed a different day than the roofing installation because it wasnt included with the roofing crews installation. At this point, we are at a loss with the overall highly questionable workmanship of this roofing companies installation. There is a high level of disregard for the customer in time and value, for all that the customer has to deal with when ********************** is the company that did a terrible installation on our roof. All we have expected was what we paid for, which was a good roof installation.

Findlay Roofing is scheduled to come to my home to correct the issues with the lower roofline above ***********.  There are more issues than this one issue.  We still have other problems with the upper roof ridge vent and excessive heat in the attic.  We need to hear Findlay Roofing plans to correct all the problems with their workmanship quality problems.  We also are seeking compensation for all the problems and the time it has consumed.

      Business response

      07/11/2023

The client was already provided a substantial discount of $3774.51.  These are warranted related items outlined in document attached.  We have an appointment scheduled to address the remaining concerns.

      Customer response

      07/13/2023

Findlay Roofing has already previously attempted to repair the area with incorrectly installed roofing and drip edge by their subcontractor *****.  After Findlay Roofing's subcontractor ***** completed, we were left with many issues. We had HVAC vents left out of building code, water leaks, different color drip edge, and all across the back of our house shingles are raising up.  Findlay sent ***** to correct the issues with the rising shingles, but we are still having the same problem after ***** tried to fix the problem and it has become worse as the summer heat increases.  I have asked for Manager **** or the Owner ***** Findlay to call to work out a solution that is agreeable.

      Business response

      07/21/2023

We had rain preventing us from fixing the drip edge the day the appointment was set, the client was then out of town, we are waiting to return to fix.

      Customer response

      07/21/2023

Findlay Roofing has had several opportunities to make repairs and they waited to the very last available day to schedule a repair before we were going to be on a scheduled trip, in which we notified them of.  We have asked the owner of Findlay and/or manager to please to call us to work in an effort of discussion for a solution to solve all of our problems once and for all, rather than having many multiple trips to correct issues - that ultimately still have problems. We have not had a phone call since our last request to ****. We have also had another specialist in roofing come and they have found that our roof has problems with improper installation. We are ultimately left with an improper roof installation that has been given ample time to be worked on, has been worked on to try and make corrections, but we still have issues without a good roof installation. We are asking for this to be escalated above **** and ********, and requesting a conversation with the owner, ***** Findlay, to see what can be done to resolve all of our issues once and for all. From what we understand, they are scheduled to come on July 24th to make repairs and we ask that they pay very close attention to getting all items that need attention, to be completed correctly and accurately to get to an end point of anything else needed. Anything left open after July 24th, we will have no choice but to take appropriate legal action as we have exhausted all efforts of us being able to work out our issues with Findlay directly.

      Business response

      07/21/2023

We have our team already scheduled for the 24th, which was previously confirmed with the client weeks ago.

      Customer response

      07/21/2023

We will find out on the July 24th 2023 if in fact Findlay can correct their very poor workmanship on my roof they installed.  This situation with Findlay Roofing has been a very bad experience and had consumed a lot of our time to get what should have been done right the first time.  Findlay uses subcontractors and in my case they didn't monitor their subcontractor and therefore we have a new roof which is incorrectly installed.

Date of service 4/21/2023 Service address **** Clearwater agreed price $5,000 dollars. Installer got shocked by a live wire without sheathing. Immediately called an electrician. Installer let me climb a ladder the see the wire. Asked the head installer to stop installing so the wire could be evaluated due to making sure there was no fire hazard. He said no unless his office told him to stop. I had to threaten to call the police .I was bullied by everyone at Findlay that day.. A Quality Control worker was dispatched to let me know install was going to be completed that day regardless The ** worker wanted to close the wire up and said it had been that way for a long time. I had to sign a waiver making myself liable if anything happened. Electrician came and fixed the wire and it was the right choice because it might have caused loss of life or property. Findlay Roofing's General Manager ********************* email to say he apologized for the way his team treated me but when I received the billing invoice I was charged an addional $1370 for a total of $6370. I emailed *************** inquiring about the extra fee? He asked me to give him a letter from my electrician stating the wire posed a danger forfire which I provided to him. Strategy changed after I satified his demand for the electrician's letter *************** emailed stating the extra charge was due to wood decking needing replacing. I agree there were some rotten wood needing replaced. The house is a small bungalow, less than 900 sq ft. *************** emailed pictures depicting a few rooten even with *******************-up. This entire situation has been a huge ordeal. I used Findlay Roofing for this roof because I used them in the past, good experience. I know the importance of staying on schedule when you run a crew however, there are times when something unpredictable happens that requires attention. The liability and potential danger gave no other choice but to repair before the roof could be completed.

When decking is replaced, additional money is due per the signed contract attached.  We have no records of the police involvement and we would never hurt our companies relationship that we have been building for 28 years over 1 job. I have attached the email thread to coincide with all our actions.  The client simply does not want to pay the money that is owed.  I have offered a $250 discount to compromise and move on.  I have yet to get a reply.

Findlay Roofing on ******************************* in ********* installed our new roof in July 2012. Initially all was well and it seemed like they did a good job. ******************* was their rep and ******************* was the regional manager. This was not an insurance job. We paid out of our own pocket. We got "lifetime" shingles, which we paid a premium for, and which came with a 10 year "workmanship" warranty. In addition, we also paid an additional $275 for the extended warranty to be doubly safe and secure in this expensive purchase. In January 2023 we had a roof leak which made water streak down our living room wall. I pulled out our original paperwork with our warranty information and immediately called *******************. I left several messages for him over several days but never got any response. In frustration I called another number listed for Findlay and ended up talking with someone in their ************** who told me that each location was individually owned and operated and that basically he couldn't help me. We ended up finding another contractor to fix the leak. Because of this experience I would never recommend Findlay roofing. They did not stand behind their warranty and would not return calls and were not there for us when we needed them most. If anyone from Findlay is reading this and is willing to reimburse us for the cost of the leak repair then I would be willing to change my review to positive.

In April of 2013, I received a quote from Findlay Roofing to "Remove and replace roofing materials". The contract stated "Remove all existing roofing materials (1 layer). Replace with 25 yr ***** Corning fiberglass shingles and felt paper. I Agreed to the terms and work was completed in June 2013. I was under the impression my complete roof was replaced based off the quote and Invoice I received.Fast forward 9 years to 08 of 2022. I am in the process of selling my townhome and the home inspection from the buyer discovered a section of roof that was completely missed. After talking with Findlay Roofing, they stated this is a "modified" area and was not part of the original quote. This was never mentioned to me by *************************, the "roofing specialist" who provided me with the quote, so I have always been under the impression that my "roof" was replaced with the 25yr ***** Corning fiberglass shingles and felt paper from the proposal that I signed. I have reviewed all my paperwork and there is nothing in there about an exclusion or exception for the roof part that they missed. My final invoice states that they "Removed and replace roofing materials (all discounts included). Again, there is no mention about an exclusion or exception when they replaced my roof.I would have never known this was not done if there hadn't been a inspection done by a Home Inspector. Now, Findlay Roofing wants to charge me to complete this section of the roof and I have no choice but to have this done as part o the sale agreement. I would like this refunded as, from a consumer view, I paid to have my roof replaced and this missed section was never mentioned or documented in my paperwork, proposal or invoice, that it would not be replaced and/or was not considered part of the estimate. The almost $3,000 was to replace "all existing roofing materials"

      BBB Team,

I have attached the signed proposal between the client and Findlay Roofing.  On the 2nd page of the attachment, we have a specific area called "AC/Freon Lines" as the situation that occurred is unfortunately common in the roofing industry.  The client had a Freon line that was not to code. They acknowledged that we are not responsible for such damages weeks before the roof replacement weeks before we replaced the roof. Most clients have their AC/HVAC contractor come out to validate the Freon lines. We are terribly sorry this happened but the problem existed well before our involvement with the lines not being to code.  Our roofers can't see below the decking and this is not an intentional item.  Let me know if I can help in other way.

I am rejecting this response because: There is no proof that the damaged AC/Line was not in compliance or not up to code. Accordiing to a certified AC tech *************************** of Cool Running AC stated the roofers were careless. No one from the roofing company can not prove my home or AC Line was not code. Last year, I paid ******* roofing over $1,000 to repair a leak during a dry season. Afterwards they couldn't provide me with any work photos to prove the work was completed. Then when it did rain, I couldn't get anyone to return an e-mail or call that it was still leaking. Now, a year later, the leak is worse than it was before. It's sad. They did a good job putting our new roof on 15 years ago. BBB team,

The original project was completed back in May of 2021.  It came with a 6 month warranty.   As a courtesy, we returned a year later in May of 2022 to ***** the situation/provide an estimate if necessary when the client reported a leak.  Our team in May of 2022, sealed the client's vinyl siding to prevent the water intrusion and confirm nothing was wrong with the repair. The client has a siding issue, allowing water to intrude. In addition, if the leak is from our work, which its not, its out of warranty.

I have also attached an email From June 2nd, 2022 where ******************** is confirming the roof was not leaking anymore. As well as photos of the area that is leaking.

Lastly, we open 6 days a week. We have installed over ****** roofs. We answer our phones and emails, we want to be the best roofing company in *******.  You can not do that without customer service. We have no records that Mr. or ********************* has reached out to us about his roof.

I hired Findlay Roofing to replace my roof.In the process of doing so they damaged my siding on the chimney when they tried to install flashing during the job. They told me that the siding was already damaged. That was not true. I had the roof and siding inspected before the job was done and there was no damage. Even one of their employees did an inspection before the job was done and he said there was no damage.I had two independent and separate inspections done after the job was done and the results both times were that Findlay Roofing damaged the siding while doing the job. Specifically, the damage was done when they tried to put flashing in behind the siding on the chimney. They pulled on the siding to get the flashing in and that was when the damage was done.
