We purchased these plans after telling them that we were building in ******* . We are happy with the plans however we were not told that these plans did not meet ******* code . We will need *** files and then spend another $1500 with an engineer to correct the plans !The only fix for this problem is spending another $1250.00 . For *** files with Americas house plans. I believe in good faith and honesty I should at the very least get some sort of discounted price for the *** files so I can then pay an engineer to fix the issues!Business response

As noted on our website as well as our modifications quotes and order receipt, all plans are designed to the *** (International Residential Code) not to any local building code and may require engineering due to local code requirements. It is clearly noted in bold blue copy as follows ** All plans are designed to the International Residential Code (***). Local engineering may be required depending on local building code requirements.
With the thousands of potential requirements, it would be impossible to engineer plans for a specific area at the price plans are offered on our site.
In ******************** case it was explained to him that he may need CAD files to get the engineering completed to adhere to the strict building codes in *******.
Prior to receiving the notification of this complaint ***************** had been contacted and offered a solution he was extremely satisfied with.Customer response

Date of Transaction 03:57pm Saturday, September 24,2021. Supervisor Response To Request For Refund Of Plans Purchased Via Website Was To Deny Refund. We Purchased Plans After Use Of Website Cost To Build Report, So We Were Able To Purchase Plans For A Home In Our Budget. This Report Estimated A Home Cost At XXX-XXX,000$. We Approached A Builder That Estimated The Home To Be Well Outside Of Our Budget At XXX-XXX,000$. Not Only Did We Spend 30$, On Two Separate Occasions, For The Cost To Build Report. We spent 1290$ On House Plans We Are Unable To Use. Giving An Arbitrary "It's Against Our Policy" Which Is Not Listed On Their Website Is Poor Business Practice. Assuming We Infringed On "Copyright Laws" By Asking A Builder To Estimate Expenses For A Home We Planned To Build Is Absolutely Absurd. Using The Good Ole "Well Now Any Builder Can Use It" Is Actually False- When We Purchased The Plans, The Website Clearly Indicated One Time Use. This "Business" Clearly Ripped Us Out Of 1350$.Business response

We have never had one in the over 15 years we've been in business. We have reviewed the two cost to build reports you purchased. One included using a General Contractor but no land, the other was without a General Contractor but included the land. Adding those into the quotes would have given you a more accurate price in line with what your General Contractor quoted. We pride ourselves in providing a first class product and excellent customer service. The user experience and customer satisfaction will always be our first priority. With that in mind, we have refunded your house plan purchase for the entire amount to your credit card.
