I would give zero stars if I could. If you plan to place an ad, DONT. You will get nothing but illegitimate inquiries. Scams. AutoTrader does NOT screen these inquiries. I placed an ad in the morning and within an hour my email was blowing up with messages from AutoTrader about an inquiry. All fake or scammers. They would not refund my $49 for the Ad.Review from Tracy T

Some of the worst service ever. No calls returned ever! It cost me $1500 just for shipping but it was sitting on their truck for 5 days! There was WAY more damage than reported and the drivers side only opens 9 out of 10 tries! I am beyond disgusted and would never shop Auto traders again! They could at least fix the damage!Review from Charles E

*** site is very unstable and rarely works. *** transaction was delayed because the site kept crashing. I told them I had to be out of town for a couple of weeks, and no arrangements were made to get the documents to me, so to meet the deadline, I will have to waste a day and drive almost 400 miles. *** day of the transaction, we were unable to confirm pickup and the seller was unable to confirm funds online, so that added an hour to trying to complete the deal.It was and still is a complete clusterf***.Review from Phil W

They make it difficult to contact someone. A legitimate business does not do things like that! I signed up and I still can't communicate with anyone. It's a sketchy site! They also want to much information, just to communicate with someone. Bunch of BS!Review from Priya V

Worst service and business I have ever come across to seek my SUV. Bunch of unscreened robots or scammers chat with you as buyers. I have listed my SUV for sale since February and accepted 2 offers. Once the offer is accepted by me it becomes quiet and no movement. Autotrader doesnt do a c*** Reached out to their customer service to get a refund, since they didnt do a squat to sell my car and only took my money for the ad. After multiple attempts I was able to speak to a human customer service. He was rude and arrogant and said they reach out to buyers via email to deposit the money for the offers they made. If the buyer doesnt respond they cant do much. If this is what Autotrader do for their customers, what value are they bringing to sellers? I could have listed my car on ********** and by now have sold the car. At least I am not dealing with scammers as buyers. I am bringing down my ad and wanted to write this to save your time and money. DO NOT USE AUTOTRADER to sell your vehicle. WORST WORST WEBSITE. CUSTOMERS BEWARE!!!!!!Review from Paul Y

I used Autotrader Private Seller Exchange to facilitate a vehicle sale. I uploaded the title and got confirmation from Autotrader that the Title was clear and clean. But when the deal started to process, Autotrader called the buyer told him that my automobile had a Salvage Title or was Scrap. Did they even call me first to discuss their mistake?! No, they did not! Autotrader has failed to perform the simple function for which I chose them in the first place... they were supposed to make selling and titling a car easy. But they didn't. I have been on the phone with them multiple times, and each time they mess it up even more. The seller has been told by Autotrader multiple times that my vehicle is a salvage or rebuilt vehicle which it is not! When i spoke to Autotrader, I had to explain the difference between a Salvage, Rebuilt, Total ************ Title. They researched it more and left me a message on my phone saying that i was correct, my vehicle is not a salvage or scrap but that they would not process the transaction due to "it might not be a smooth title and registration process??? These people are INCOMPETENT to the point of criminality. DO NOT USE AUTOTRADER.Review from Mirelle K

I did not feel comfortable giving AutoTrader my bank account info, to deposit the funds for a vehicle that I agreed to sell. THEN Manny- ****************(*******, **) Called and arrogantly asked how we want to proceed. We gave him every opportunity to make us feel comfortable with the exchange of funds, and verifying our payment. He said he could not verify that a man was on the moon- but it was??? Well- *****, you'll need to work on your skills for leery sellers! I was also nearly a victim of a scam on this site- But- I was able to report it. So, Yes, I am leery and still leery of scams and Autotrader does not pass the test!Review from Brandon S

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!!I used Autotrader Private Seller Exchange to facilitate a vehicle purchase from another state.Prior to flying to ****** to pick up the vehicle, I confirmed with Autotrader over the phone that everything was in order. I was told it was. After the test drive, the seller and I called Autotrader to confirm that the deal was being processed and that nothing more had to be done on our end. We were told the deal was being processed and that there was nothing else for us to do.The next day, I drove ten hours. When I stopped for dinner and checked my text messages, I found that the seller was threatening to turn me into the police. Autotrader had called him that morning and told him that I'd stolen his automobile and that he needed to report me to the police. They had left me a cryptic voicemail in the morning, which I didn't see until that evening, but did they text or email me? Within an hour of my not returning their call, they called the seller and told him his vehicle had been stolen. Did they even call me more than once before accusing me of theft and fraud? Of course not.On top of accusing me of theft and sending the seller and his wife into an all-day panic, Autotrader has failed to perform the simple function for which I chose them in the first place: they were supposed to make purchasing and titling the car easy. But they didn't. I have literally been on the phone with them ten times, and each time they say that everything has been resolved. The seller has been on the phone with them ten times, and they say everything has been resolved. And then I call again and find out that it hasn't. I purchased the vehicle on Tuesday, and they still haven't gotten me my temporary tags on Saturdya. These people are INCOMPETENT to the point of criminality. DO NOT USE THIS AUTOTRADER. DO NOT USE AUTOTRADER. DO NOT USE AUTOTRADER.Review from Keysplz N

Autotrader figured out how to make more money than just the listing fees. Why do I have to send a pic of my drivers license to ask a seller about their car? Really? I communicated with a seller via text. He told me to fly ***** miles and take a test drive. Then we could talk. I had another buyer was supposed to pay upwards of $300 and I was supposed to pay $200 just for the sellers exchange service to sell my truck. Autotrader needs an online auto sales platform to knock them out of business.AutoTrader.com Response
