Approximately 4 years ago, I hired Depend a coat to repair my gutters, window sills and paint around all of the windows, doors and garage. Earlier this year, one of the gutters they had repaired began leaking again and caused damage to the eaves. The company came out and repaired the eaves but did not properly repair the gutter. It is still leaking and once again causing damage. They have been out several times but have not fixed the problem. Now, all calls to them go unanswered/unreturned and they have not returned to fixed the gutter that should be covered under their warranty.

A salesman came to the house and because he told me I would never have to paint again and showed me a piece of the product I bought this product all because of him telling me I never have to paint or replace the decking because it has a lifetime warranty unless I sell then it's 10 years for the buyers. Well when they finished I started having problems like the wood rotting and paint bubbling and peeling. I called many times left messages or if someone answered I was told they would come and look at it. No one showed up or called back for 2 years. When this new lady started working she came out and looked and said oh you have depend a paint. I have never heard of depend a paint. It took her a year or so before anyone came out and looked , in the meantime I had back surgery . When I came home after surgery I went on my deck and fell thru the floor of deck due to the boards rotting from the depend a whatever. By this time I was not only hurt but mad and called them again and explained what happened , that's when they sent someone out here to fix my deck Well now I have more rotting boards and plus the fact they sent me a bill for $2000.00 for fixing what they told me was covered for life. First I paid for Dependacoat not dependapaint . This product was not what he showed me when h sold it to me. Now my deck is rotting away and I had a fairly new deck maybe 3 years old at the time they put this Dependacoat on it.

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2022/06/10) */ ******************************************************************************************************** When I first heard from Ms ********, I made an appointment for inspecting the issues. Per the warranty, rotting wood is not covered no matter which option a customer chooses. Ms.******** was told then that according to the invoice and contract she had decided on DependaPaint, a lower cost option that did not cover what the Dependacoat Warranty covered. I explained that even If she had the DependaCoat and if it was covered under the warranty, the labor warranty would still be expired. Labor on decks is covered for 2 years with Dependacoat. We would be happy to repaint her deck but she would need to pay for the labor to repair the deck as well as the lumber to repair the rotting decking boards. It was also explained that Dependacoat is not responsible for repairing damage to the coating/paint, only for failures of coating. The peeling was caused due to cuts in the paint perhaps by moving big potted plants which are on the deck or activity by large dogs which Ms. ******** has. The cuts in the coating cause peeling and allow moisture to the wood which can lead to rot. Under the warranty, the damaged paint/coating is not covered. We still agreed to pay for repainting as a one time courtesy if she wanted to pay for labor and lumber cost. She did not want to and told us she would have someone else take care of it. Ms. ******** called back In 2020 and said she hurt herself on the deck after surgery and she would pay for the labor cost to repair the deck. In good faith we sent our repair person over to replace the wood and repaint the deck. We paid for the paint, the lumber, and labor. After sending the invoice which only covered our costs for labor and lumber, she refused to pay the invoice of $1718.96. It is 2 years past that complete repair where all rotting wood was replaced and repainted. The property Ms. ******** lives in is by a lake with lots of foliage and moisture. It was explained to her that if the deck gets cuts in the coating, water can get in and cause rotting due to the high moisture in her area. Rot is a bacteria that thrives in moisture, it is not caused by our paint/coating. It was explained that It was important to keep the large dogs from frolicking on the deck and to not drag the big plants over the deck. Our coating is not a stainless steel barrier which can not be penetrated. It is a high quality paint/coating that many of our customers find will last and look beautiful for many years. Per our warranty, the Dependacoat lifetime warranty applies to vertical surfaces on houses, not floors of decks. Even so, many of our customers have excellent results with our coating on their deck. Ms. ******** was supplied a copy of the warranty upon original completion of the deck in 2016 as well as a copy when our representative inspected the deck. We waived the inspection fee of $200 which is also stated as a requirement in the warranty. We stand behind our warranty with many satisfied customers and feel we have gone over and above with Ms ******** as well.
