I am a monthly member and have been for quite some time. I was involved in a MVA a month ago and had been treated by the Joint with no issues 4 times after the accident. I went in for a pain in lower back, which was not at issue from the accident, and 2 new people were there and refused to allow me my treatment because I filed a UM claim for a hit and run accident, saying all of a sudden that I can't be treated because of "legal action." However, I am not involved in a "legal action" by definition. They refused to allow me to speak to Management and advised that someone would call me by the end of the day, yet no one did. I pay for service which I am ***********.Initial Complaint

Signed up for what I thought was a 3 month Wellness Plan in July 2022. I provided my HSA card for the monthly payment. Afterwards, I opted to not continue as I was very unhappy with the quality of care. The Chiropractors treated all patients the same, there was no personalized treatment based on your issues. Additionally, I began experiencing other medical issues which created new medical expenses. So, a $79 a month plan that wasnt helping was no longer a wide investment. In late June 2023 I went to use my HSA card for some prescriptions and was shocked to not have enough on the account. That is when I learned the Joint had continued to charge me long after the initial 3 months. I reached out to Joint corporate who responded I had to go into the location I signed up with to get help. I went into to the Forum location in *****************. **************************** who is the clinic director was completely apathetic. When I explained that they had charged me almost $500 this year alone and that I hadnt been in for treatment over 9 months, she simply responded thats correct. When I asked why I was never sent a receipt for the monthly charges, she said we have hundreds of thousands of patients, we cant keep track and send receipts to all of them. Its an automatic computer system that does the charging. I responded that several companies I have worked with have auto payments and they all email or text a receipt when the monthly charge occurs. She just kept saying I get it. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do. When I asked who I can reach out to for help on this she told me to try corporate. When I explained they sent me to her, and asked why there wasnt anyone she could refer me to she simply said I apologize. We dont have a path for escalations beyond just reaching out to corporate. Im a director of customer experience. I have a hard time believing a company of this size doesnt have an escalation path to assist customers.Initial Complaint

I went into the Decatur Joint Chiropractor under the advertisement and assumption based on what I asked and was told. It was suppose to be a sale and only about 6 sessions that I paid $29 for. I found out today Junr 2. 2023 after 4 months of them taking $79 per month that it doesn't stop with the introduction price they you are signing for them to co tinge taking money from you every month. I called and asked why I was still having sessions u used on their books. Just stated I hadn't used them all yet. I said I was explained it was a special for $29 consult and $79 for about 6 sessions and was done. Very slick hoe it is explained or not explained clearly what your getting yourself into. Buyer br **** because signing the contract or any paper work they give you is entrapment you to pay monthly. You won't even know you need to cancel. Or may not know they are billing you monthly if your not looking at your bank account every month. Again they took my money and had me sign the co tract under false pretense. Stating o e thing and doing something else.Initial Complaint

I visited The Joint Chiropractic in ***************** location in early 2020 just before the ***** epidemic for a one-time $29 consultation/visit I obtained through a groupon coupon. When I arrived the person at the desk recommended that I sign up for their wellness plan, which was 3 visits for $108. I confirmed with the person at the desk that these would not be recurring charges to my credit card or a subscription. She confirmed. She asked me to sign off on their wellness plan. I asked over and over again and received confirmation that there will be no recurring charges. I was assured there will be none. The pandemic occurred and I neither had access nor desire for any of their services. After a brief gap in billing, I was continuously billed $69 monthly every second of the month for services I never received. I only discovered it recently on my bank statements for credit card billing. What is most disconcerting is that I was issued a new credit card a few months ago with a new number and yet the new credit card is still being billed. For three years now, my account has been fraudulently being charged for services I never received. When confronting the desk person on the phone, she informed me her systems were down and they will try to reach me by the following morning. They called me back after approximately 10 minutes and informed me they have my signed contract claiming that I signed a contract with them; I don't recall ever signing a contract. Furthermore, she said that she will e-mail me a copy of the contract with my signature. She got my e -mail wrong and I had to correct her. She said she would send it to the correct e-mail address; I'm still waiting. I only ended up using 2 visits out of the 3 I signed up for. Unfortunately, I only realized I was getting monthly charges of $69 today; I was receiving unauthorized monthly charges from the Joint from May 2020 through May 2023. I explicitly stated I did not want to receive recurring charges or be on a subscription. I still have to reach out to some attorney friends of mine, but I believe the findings violate federal if not state contract law as well as well as federal racketeering / credit card fraud laws. I disputed 1 year of billing with my credit card company (which is all they allow) but don't expect to see anything from the Joint. I would want the *** to investigate and charge the individuals involved and company.Initial Complaint

I visited The Joint Chiropractic - Decatur location in July of 2022 for a one-time $29 consultation/visit. When I arrived the person at the desk recommended that I sign up for their wellness plan, which was 3 visit for a set price. In total, the 3 visits would cost $108. I confirmed with the person at the desk that these would not be recurring charges to my credit card or a subscription. She confirmed. She asked me to sign off on the wellness plan, which was an illegible document on a tablet (the print was tiny and on a digital screen). Since I could make out the writing I again asked for confirmation that there would not be recurring charges or a subscription, and she again confirmed. I only ended up using 2 visits out of the3 I thought I signed up for. Unfortunately, we only realized we were getting monthly charges of $80 in February 2023, so we had been receiving unauthorized monthly charges from the Joint from August 2022 through February 2023. When I reached out to the Joint they emailed me the wellness plan document, which as a PDF was actually legible and apparently I had signed up for a subscription against my knowledge and against what they had verbally told me. The records show I only visited the Joint 2 times, which aligns with my understanding of what I was told I was signing up for.In summary, I explicitly stated I did not want to receive recurring charges or be on a subscription. The document provided to me was not legible. The attendant confirmed verbally that I would not be on a subscription or receive recurring charges, but apparently, the illegible document contained a subscription service. This is in violation of federal and state contract law and in violation of the **** We tried to obtain refunds from the Joint for the unauthorized charges between August 2022 and February 2023, to the amount of $553, but they will not issue refunds. This is a scam.Initial Complaint

I signed up with the Joint Chiropractic for my elderly father when singing the agreement I was told he would not be billed unless we used the pass. He ******* getting charged for the last two years for a service he only used for one month. When I spoke with the girl she said well he's his agreement it's singing by you. It was singing by me but that's not what I was told. I really feel they owe us for 24 months of ***** a month.Initial Complaint

I signed up with The Joint Chiropractic in ************************************************************************************************************. It was 2 months, and as my 2 months were about to be up, I called in to cancel my membership. Mentioned to the guy that answered that I was traveling out of state for a month and wouldnt be able to continue using it. *** mentions he will adjust my billing date to allow me to use the remaining 2 uses on my plan. And cancel automatic payment so I will not be charged for the following month. Thank him and on the way i go. A month later and I return, I am attempting to close out my bank that i dont use but cant because i have a negative balance. That negative balance came from The Joint Chiropractic reoccurring charges after i had talk to someone to cancel it. On top of that overdraft protection, paid the amount charged with a 20dollar fee top. So I was negative $100 might not seem like alot but in this inflation times its felt. The Joint Chiropractic returned 80, which is what that charge, and I am stuck with out of pocket 20. My complaint is, it is ******** how business rip off individuals for there own benefit. I pay the reoccurring payments and everything is good. I bounce a payment then they have a penalty charge on top. What about when they ran a reoccurring charge when I had cancelled, and they overdrawn my bank. I transfer all my money to specific accounts to pay bills and the rest to savings. They didnt do their job properly and I literally have to pay for their mistake. It's unfortunate how businesses care for their profits and not the mistakes they push on their customers.
