GAP coverage was elected on an auto purchased 05-13-22 with Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union. The car was totally paid off on 07-01-22 (49 days later) as I had refinanced with another credit union. I contacted the seller (******** ****** on 06-29-22) to find out what I needed to do to cancel the gap and get my $1200 refund. They emailed me a form and said I needed to have a document showing it paid off and submit that to ******** ******. They never asked me if ******** ****** financed the vehicle or if another bank or credit union financed it. I waited for Georgia Heritage to send me a letter in the mail showing the loan was paid so I could submit to ******** ****** to get my remainder of my gap policy returned. I called ******** ****** on 08-04-22 to inquire again about it and then was told that I needed to contact the credit union. I was never told this on June 29 call. I put in a question to the Georgia Heritage website and was answered by ******** **** saying that I didn't request the cancellation within 60 days (but 83 days) and therefore the $1200 was non-refundable. Georgia Heritage had actual liability for this car for 49 days and because procedures weren't explained properly they feel they are able to steal my $1200 GAP insurance which should be refunded to me. Georgia Heritage told me to contact ****** ********* which wrote the GAP policy. I spoke with **** ***** from ****** ********* who said they wrote the GAP policy for $425 but not $1200. No one can tell me where the other $775 went. I don't know if Georgia Heritage or ******** ****** took this portion but neither party had any liability over 49 days for this vehicle.Business response

I opened an account with Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union in 2016 with my grandma right after I turned 15. Since I opened the account I have put all of my money into my savings account and Ga Heritage pulled the money straight out of my savings. I was told to do this by the banker who set up my account, specifically because there are no overdraft fees. Starting March 2nd, and I started getting charged a $7 overdraft fee every time they pulled money from my savings into my checking account. They have charged me 71 times, totaling $497 in overdraft fees in four months. I am a full time college student, and I work part-time at the college that I attend (and only during the Fall and Spring Semesters). I still live at home, so I don't have many bills to pay. All my money was being saved for graduate school, and thus I don't monitor my banking very closely. I only ever log on to the mobile banking to make sure I have money, or to transfer money from my savings into my checking account for large purchases. The charges were small, and neither of those actions required me to open my checking account history, so I never noticed the charges until July 12th. When I called I was told that bank members were informed via a single letter sent in the mail about the change in charging overdraft fees. However, I never got the letter. After my information got passed to a supervisor, I was told that because I had logged into my mobile account, I could only be refunded five courtesy reversals, totalling $35. When I said that I was not okay with that solution, I was told that I had to refuse that money in order to get my problem passed further up the chain of command, and that I could possibly be offer no refund by the supervisor if I chose to refuse the money. None of the overdraft fees were for lack of funds, they were simply for moving money from my savings to my checking account. It should be noted that my main bank is located on *** ********** ******** *** ********* ** *****.Customer response

It is completely unacceptable to deny me access to remote check depositing when my account is overdrawn. ESPECIALLY when it is only overdrawn because of fees YOU IMPOSED that I have already made known my disagreement regarding. This is a tax against poor people who do not own a car, and even those who do own a car due to gas costs. It is prejudiced, offensive, and unacceptable.Customer response
