Bohemian Hotel Dispute November 9th, 2022 • We had a 4 person trip to Sea Island, GA. One person’s flight / travel plans were affected by weather so we had 3 who went to Savannah, GA on November 7th before our return flights home on November 8th • Since we were now 3 people, we really didn’t want to pay for 2 rooms. • I called the hotel directly on November 5th and simply said we had one person impacted by weather for our trip so we plan to keep one room if possible (other room under ***** **********. I said would you let me cancel and get my money back for the November 7th stay? They said “you are all set.” • On Wednesday November 9th I looked at my Amex statement and didn’t see a charge. I also hadn’t receive a confirmation notice email so I was a little nervous. o This time I called the starwood Platinum line and was told that I had cancelled but I was charged the full amount. I asked her why and she said I didn’t cancel in time. I explained I called the hotel directly and said it was okay (assumed because I’m platinum). o I further explained that why would I show up and stay at the hotel (3 in another room) but pay for a second room and not use it? ? I said if the reception/hotel said I would be charged, I would have used 2 rooms. o You cannot tell someone you get your money back and still charge them – this is unethical and I want my money back. So here I am hoping that amex gets this resolved so I don’t’ cancel my marriott card and never stay a marriott again. I will then have to use my Chase Sapphire Reserve card and their hotel network and travel system, hoping they act ethically.
