On 5/15/2024 I purchased a 2012 ***** Pilot from *****(last name unknown)- PERFECT REIGN AUTO SALES. There was no check engine light on. On 5/30/24, the light appeared on the dashboard. The mechanically inclined *************** erased the codes for the vehicle to pass inspection. He agreed to repair the small problems but said I need to prove it. He took advantage of me as a single woman knowing my Pilot was totaled in an accident. I do not have the $1000 to repair the vehicle.

      Business response

      06/25/2024

Hello, On 05/15/24 I conducted business with ********** and sold her a 2012 ***** truck pilot that I advertised on ********* My company specializes in buying and selling used cars, which ********** was already aware of. Before purchasing the car, ********** had previously checked out the car and said she liked everything about it aside from the fact it did not have a backup camera. After a week from the prior examination, she told me she would be coming with her mechanic, *****; phone number **************, to examine the car further. The mechanic test-drove the car, did another inspection on the car, and then advised ********** to purchase it because it was in good shape. There was no coercion or tricking as ********* stated, on my end. Both ********** and I went to do an emission test on the car which it passed. Attached below is a copy of that emission as well as other supporting documents. The car was then paid for and purchased on 05/15/2024.
About a week after the original purchase ********** contacted me that the tailgate was not working. I decided to order the parts with my own money and help her fix this minor issue free of charge. Another week passed and I was contacted again by ********** on 05/30 that the check engine light had come on and was affecting the catalytic converter. I told her that it's been two weeks since she purchased this car and I cannot take responsibility for any continued issues because I do not have any knowledge of how reckless ********** has been with the vehicle or any damage she has inflicted on the vehicle that she now wants to be reimbursed for. ********** then proceeded to use vulgar language and cursed me out. She called me a liar and accused me of conspiring with the people who performed the emission to pass the car. I asked her if she had any proof of these accusations and if she did bring the evidence which she could not provide. I do not know where these baseless accusations have come from. I have helped ********* do minor repairs on the car free of charge but from when the car was purchased to the time of the complaint I cannot account for how the car has been used or maintained since then. I hope this issue can be resolved amicably. If this issue shall be discussed further, please contact me at your earliest convenience.
      Thank you for your understanding.,
      Perfect Reign Motors

I am rejecting this response because: The seller was aware of the problem. The Hispanic men who work for him erased the codes to allow the vehicle to pass inspection. As dated in the picture, it was only 2 weeks after I purchased the vehicle. The seller stated he was not making any money, therefore he refused to repair the catalytic converter. It is $1,000 to replace. The vehicle needs to be inspected again soon, because my birthday is in August. I did have a mechanic look over the vehicle but if the engine light is not on, there is no indication of a problem. He should have been honest with me. He took advantage of a single mother in need of a vehicle.

      Sincerely,

      *******************
