Upon visiting this office, I've had a recent decline in relation to the health of my feet. The doctor gave me no preventative or progression methods to abide by and told me everything was hereditary. He informed me that I would have to return periodically to remove hardening from my feet. He gave me the definition of calluses, in which I already knew from the lovely search engine Google, and showed no concern. He examined my feet, but gave me no information about why my nails were growing into my skin and turning black. It's becoming harder for me to walk around, even in comfortable shoes, and an even more inconvenience that I paid over $100 out of pocket, along with insurance, for a visit that led no where. I called to speak with the office manager about the issue, she had the doctor call me back and he stated nothing other than what he already said and abruptly ended the phone call. I feel as if he could have provided me with information on what kind of shoes to wear, a lotion that I could use that would help, or something! I would like my co-pay returned to me so that I may continue searching for a doctor who actually cares about the health of ALL thier patients. I do not want to end up having surgery on my feet in the long run for measures that could have been put in place before hand

      March 7, 2023
      Regarding: Case ID 19453353

      To Whom It May Concern:

This is in response to a complaint from a visit with a patient on November 1, 2021. This is the
only visit that I have had with this patient. The patient w s diagnosed with corns/calluses resulting in bilateral foot pain. The worst site was noted to be the 9sub-metatarsal 5 lesion on the right foot.
On this visit, the hyperkeratotic lesions were debrided. I had recommended that the patient keep this filed down regularly and wear good shoe wear to protect the sites. I recommended following up as needed because some patients with this condition may do well for several weeks and others may do well for several months to a year before having recurrent problems.

Unfortunately, corns and calluses are very common problems that result in significant foot pain. There is no simple cure for this problem. Typically, with patients that are diagnosed with this condition, I will deb ride the lesions in an effort to provide relief. However, this is a recurrent problem. With lesions on the toes, it can sometimes be treated surgically, but with the lesions like the patient has sub-metatarsal 5, surgery is not typically successful. Most patients with this condition will come back on an as-needed basis for debridement to try to keep this condition managed.

When reading the patient's statement, it is evident that she is frustrated, and she does have a frustrating conditio11. My concern is that she is also frustrated with me and feels like there was a lack of concern. I have been in practice for almost 25 years and this is the first time that l have received a complaint. 1 would like to assure her that I do care abou.t her well-being and I desire nothing more than to try to help her with her conditi9n. I would like to offer her a one time no charge visit to discuss her condition further and review all possible treatment options with her. It is my hope that she will take me up on this offer.

      Sincerely

      Devin L. Daugherty, DPM, FACFAS
