Subject: Reporting HIPAA Violation and Billing Error - Urgent Attention Required II am writing to report a serious issue regarding a HIPAA violation and a billing error that I have experienced with Meadows Regional. I believe it is crucial to bring this matter to your attention as it involves the mishandling of sensitive medical information and improper billing practices. On 9/25/2022, my newborn's metabolic screening, which was essential for their health and well-being, was lost by the hospital. To make matters worse, the hospital proceeded to bill my insurance company using an incorrect code, resulting in a denial of coverage. Despite my repeated attempts to rectify the situation, the hospital failed to take appropriate action and instead sent the outstanding bill to a collection agency. I have made numerous phone calls to the hospital in an effort to resolve this issue. However, I have been met with indifference and a lack of willingness to address the problem. The hospital did not make any genuine attempts to rebill my insurance company or correct the billing error, which has caused significant distress and financial burden for my family. I am deeply concerned about the mishandling of my newborn's sensitive medical information and the hospital's failure to comply with HIPAA regulations. This violation of patient privacy is unacceptable and must be addressed promptly to prevent further breaches. I kindly request your assistance in investigating this matter and ensuring that appropriate actions are taken against the hospital for their negligence and violation of HIPAA regulations. I believe it is crucial to hold them accountable for their actions and prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
