Faulty wrapping of duct work among other repair issues caused extensive condensation and accumulation of water under our home for which they will not make good.

      Business response

      07/27/2022

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/02/16) */ On ******* the ************'s paid us $95 to "spot wrap" a few bad spots on their current duct system. We in no way insinuated that this would be a complete solution to the old ductwork. As you can see from the pictures provided by the other company it would cost more than $6000 to begin to replace the duct system. We were simply trying to place a "band aide" on a few places per the customer's request. As you can see from the pictures the old duct system was in various stages of disrepair in multiple places. The work we did didn't cause the issue or exacerbate it. We are more than happy to refund the customer the $95 paid for the few placed we tried to help. We will not accept responsibility for issues with the old system that we didn't install. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/02/17) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) At no time did I assume the duct system would be replaced. I hired a reputable company to come out and service my unit. At this time there was nor report of standing water but I was told the insulation had some problems but they thought it could be spot wrapped. I asked for a price to fix (spot wrap) the damaged INSULATION. They quoted a price based on their professionalism. At this time I had not even seen the situation. If the duct system was in disrepair, I should have been told then. Bear in mind, the pictures submitted were taken almost an entire year ago. Apparently the pump was repositioned during this process therefore leaking water under the house for the whole summer. Only when they really messed up a new install on my carport area did I decide I might ought to check behind what they had already done under the house. The pictures are what was found. Again, the professionals never mentioned anything being in disrepair. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/02/23) */ It seems to me to be a misunderstanding as to the purpose of the spot wrapping we provided. I agree that we could have even suggested a new duct system. I sincerely apologize if we misled you in any way. Our tech noticed a few places as he was providing the service of the system and suggested it would be beneficial to better insulate the spots he noticed. As for the failure of the condensation pump, if i understand correctly, there was a significant amount of time between the work performed and when the fault in the condensation pump was noticed. It is difficult to decipher from the photos but it looks like maybe the pvc or the drain line running into the pump was cracked? Again this was original equipment (almsot 10 yrs old) that wasn't originally installed by us. I don't see why we should be blamed for the failure. Again, the wrapping of the duct work didn't cause water issues. I would be more than happy to return the $95 paid for the spot wrapping. I'm not sure what other "repairs" we would be responsible for.
