8/6/22 Took my 06 Honda Element to Mavis Tire in Waycross,GA for a grinding noise in my frontend. Im a mail carrier so my Honda is converted to where the steering wheel and pedals are on the passenger side. They called to let me know I needed front pads and rotors and quoted $350. I declined the service because I was not prepared to spend $350 that day. Told them I would pick it up. Went to pick it up and noticed my brake lights were on. Got my key and asked about it and she said I don’t know, I’ll find out. Mechanic came & walked to my car with me. He said “do you know why they parked it way out here like this?” I said “no, why?” He said “bc I had no brakes when I pulled it out of the bay and almost hit two cars.” I said that’s crazy bc I haven’t had any issue with the pedal itself or with the brakes other than a noise. He opened my door and I saw that my brake pedal was pushed way beyond where it’s supposed to be and was not in working condition. I also saw that 2 of my connecting rods for the conversion were bent which was causing the failure in the brake pedal. After questioning him, the mechanic said that he was the one that pulled it in, checked it & pulled it out. Admitted that brakes were in working order coming in and not working at all going out after just taking tires off and visually examining it. I said to me it looks like someone rammed their foot against the pedal and then somehow bent my rods trying to fix it by pulling the pedal back with force. We went in and spoke with ****, the manager. After lots of back and forth got absolutely no where and he was so unhelpful and clueless. Just kept saying he don’t know anything about conversions. Offered no resolutions or assistance. Knowing I didn’t have brakes, was willing to let me leave parking lot where things could’ve have went way worse. And I am running out of characters to type this. But I have gotten nowhere with the regional Mgr. They’re not willing to pay for my repair that they caused.
