In the middle months of 2023 we purchased a home from Scotbilt though another company. The home that we looked at was clean as far as the trim, doors open and closed with ease. what we received was not the "color" we thought we were getting. We asked for a grey but its more of a very off white or beige color. The places that they put stucco or silicon its "dirty with their prints". Which I will need to pay someone to come clean. Silicon covers half the top of baseboards and center boards (need to be cleaned) The Master bath door gets stuck - as well as the toilet moves when you sit on it. one bedroom door is hard to open. sliding glass door had to be replaced and the workers pulled up the flooring and were unable to fix it. There is a smell in the guest bathroom due to some type of stuff that was put in the drain when the home was built. (wood shavings) when it gets wet it smells. After 3 visits things are not fixed. We still have no covering over the dishwasher These are just a few issues that I can think of right off the top of my head I do not have any photos on the laptop but would be happy to supply then via email

In reference to a mobile home I purchased 4/23. at ************************************************************* and serial number is *******************. The tenants moved in 7/23.Have attempted to contact a ****** at ************ to get warranty work completed and despite several attempts, either her mail box is full or she doesnt pick up. Attempted to call main number and the recording just cycles and restarts with no one to answer at receptionist or operator extension. Tried ext 2 which is supposed to be Service and it bypasses it. We have numerous repairs that need to be done and no attempt has been made since its impossible to reach them.Examples are Front door is not level and screen door does not close tightly resulting in gaps where door doesnt even touch frame. Areas of living room ceiling the bubble coating is coming loose (was reported to them upon first visit).Trim in doorways and closets are coming loose. It actually appears that the nails were driven in reverse as points of nails are coming through on the trim, floor, cabinets which at times has caused puncture wounds to my tenants!**** had busted two times up in crawl space resulting in excessive water all over the area. It took the second time to fix it (which insulation still needs to be fixed)Facing;on bottom of the home going around foundation is cracking and peeling away There is a crack in cement foundation in front of home Some inside doors wont close the correct way without pushing extremely hard. When Full House Ventilation Switch is turned on, a loud vibration is heard resulting it being turned back off and unable to use

I purchased a mobile home from scotbilt, that was delivered in July 2023 and set up about 1 week later around end of july. They sent a gentleman to do needed repairs and set up to make the house move in ready. This was the first house he did and there was alot of mistakes made and there was many things still not completed. such as handle wasn't put on refrigerator door, gap in floor, sloppy painting, cracks in walls, no light fixture by outside doors, and not lights in closets. He even brought his kids to work one day. I been trying to get them to come out and do the repairs and they keep saying that ****** was coming out. I heard from ****** on September 11, 2023 asking me when I was off I told my days varies but told him what days I was off that week. I told him it doesn't matter what days I'm off because I don't start work unit 6pm. It doesn't matter anyway because I have yet to move any of my belonging in. During the building of the home they left out linen cupboard that goes in the master bedroom, and they don't have the same color as the cabinets and they weren't going to order any more know I have to have mixed match colors. I paid for options that's not on the house. Unhappy with supposedly be farmhouse sink, the sink is not deep like a farmhouse sink suppose to be.

      Numerous repairs to home

      Hello **** *****,

My name is ********, I am the assistant service manager in the service department. I have looked into the prior repair orders and the currently open repair order. First, we want to apologize for the prior contractor not completing the "trim out" as intended. The contractor who completed the trim out is not a new contractor, he has done many runs for us, but this was the first trim out he has done. We do have the open repair order assigned to ***** which is working towards your area. Based on the linen cabinet, it was missing in the home and unfortunately the color we currently have is no longer the color installed in your home. We did give you the option as the homeowner to have the 4-door linen in the color we currently have OR you could have a 3-door linen with the color installed in your home; at that time is when you choose the 4-door linen in the new color due to you needing the extra storage space. We have built that cabinet, and the contractor has picked that up. By looking at the sink installed in the kitchen, we did install the stainless-steel farm sink we offer. We do apologize if this is not what you thought you was getting but that is the only style/size we carry when it comes to the stainless steel.

We are wanting to get everything taken care of for you, we are just working to get ****** to your area. I will contact him to have him get this addressed ASAP! Please allow us a little more time to do so. If you have any questions, feel free to email me or call me. Thank you!

      Hello **** *****,

Based on our phone conversation on Wednesday 9/27/2023; the lines you are referring to and have shown in the photos are caulk lines. Your walls are painted prior to molding being installed and caulked. As the manufacture we caulk all molding which causes the molding lines to be visible against darker paint. This is in all homes; we cannot paint following the installation of molding and caulk. We could provide you with paint to touch up in desired areas, but as the manufacture we cannot paint all walls due to the caulk lines.

When it comes to the stainless-steel farm sink, as mentioned in the phone conversation as well, this is the ONLY stainless-steel farm sink offered in our homes. If this is not what you thought you were getting, all we can recommend is reaching out to the retail center and speak with them. We built your home according to the order and if anything was missed during production, we have made that right on your behalf.

      Best Regards,

Do you caulk before or after painting interior?
In general, caulk should be applied before painting if the caulk line will be visible once the paint job is complete. This includes caulk lines around windows, doors, and baseboards. On the other hand Should you caulk before or after painting?

Anyone who has tackled a home improvement project knows that there are a lot of little details that need to be taken care of. One question that often comes up is whether caulk should be applied before or after painting. The answer may surprise you, but there is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question.
In general, caulk should be applied before painting if the caulk line will be visible once the paint job is complete. This includes caulk lines around windows, doors, and baseboards. On the other hand, caulk can be applied after painting if the caulk line will be hidden by trim or molding. So, the next time you’re getting ready to tackle a painting project, take a moment to consider whether caulk should go before or after the paint.and, caulk can be applied after painting if the caulk line will be hidden by trim or molding.Jul 27, 2022

What happens if you caulk after painting?

Caulking walls and doors after painting will help prevent water from seeping into the wall and damaging your paint job. When you caulk areas that will be wet, make sure you use a good sealant so water doesn't get into the seam between the trim and the wall.Jan 18, 2023

Need advice on caulking crown moldings over colored ...
      *****
      ********************* * *********** * ****************

All the caulk needs to be painted over. I would use white caulk, paint the trim, tape off the trim, then paint/touch up the walls and ceiling.

Should you caulk crown molding before or after painting?

Yes, caulking trim before painting is usually best, as any imperfections will be filled in by caulk. Then, once painted, the surface should look perfect. Caulking your trim after painting is still possible, but you'll need to use more caution to not damage your recently completed painting project.

We purchased our Scotbilt home through *** ***** in **** ***** **. We closed on the house July 11, 2022 for around 179,000.00 for the house only and it was delivered around August 18, 2022 to our property. We were able to enter the house once it was on our property around August 27, 2022. From the moment we were able to enter the house the complaints regarding the work delivered were started. We filed complaints with both *** **** and Scotbilt. The finishing work is horrendous and is nothing like the model we toured on *** ***** property. Scotbilt has been given several lists and three contractors have been to the home. Scotbilt has something called the Scotbilt Promise and they are supposed to finish the final punch while you are living in the home. The last contractor that came out had the list, had extra wood that was never used in our home to correct any of the issue. We have multiple finishing nails all over the trim and the door frames, nails popping up through the linoleum, linoleum that is not secured to the floor (the vacuum suction can lift it), paint on trim, raw edges of trim, and slanted walls. The final punch crew is finish and may half the items have been addressed. The last crew was Scotbilt’s last visit to our home as the crew had us sign off. I emailed Scotbilt to make them aware of what is still on the list with pictures. We are filing a complaint as they have no delivered the home we saw. The work is subpar and due to the poor quality of material used we aren’t able to remedy any of the issues without replacing complete door frames or buying equipment. After reviewing their website we realized this appears to be the quality of work they produce and send to multiple people. We just want the same quality home as what we saw in the model, not rushed subpar craftsmanship.

In *** **** I moved into this home. I’ve had numerous issues since it was delivered here. I’ve had multiple roof leaks, AC issues, kitchen sink leak causing cabinets to warp, cabinets are not installed properly, ceiling patches and cracks that came from the manufacture, internal handler not installed properly causing mold on the master bedroom floors, front and back doors do not shut properly, windows are offset and the list can go on and on. Some of these issues were taken care of, but the AC duct still has been a problem for my son’s room, he has to sleep with four fans to stay cool. They have come out several times to try to fix the AC issue and all they did was caused more damage, cutting into the outside of the home to get into the attic and still not fix the problem. At one point they sent an AC technician with no material to diagnose the problem again. They always send out one contractor to fix all these problems, they come one day prior to and take a week to do small projects. It’s a complete joke and unprofessional. I spent $166000 on this home which came with problems from day one, cracks and patches in ceilings with a supposedly new. home. They came in sober to fix and replace the mold in the bathroom, during this time they found mold in the mirror frame over the sinks, did not have material so we have had no mirror in the master bathroom for three months. The entire home is built with such poor and cheap material that everything breaks. All the doors shut by themselves because they are so cheap and light and I have to prop them open. I don’t know if this was installed improperly but all the floors sound like a wrestling mat when you walk and it has gotten worse, the whole house shakes when you walk. I’ve had contractors come out here for over a week, one time they spent four hours to replace one little section of sheet rock. I told the last contractor that I smelt mold in the spare bathroom, but he didn’t have time to get to it is what he told me. HELP!

July 2021 I bought a brand new Scotbuilt home outright in cash, since then it’s been nothing but issues. I’ve since left numerous emails & phone calls to which none have been answered. None of the doors in my house shut, there’s a crack along the front of the ceiling, the drains don’t work, the windows as well as door frames have easily a three inch gab between them and the wall. The heat system doesn’t work, the floors are falling through, the lights above my kitchen sink don’t work, it’s literally one thing after another. Not to mention, I’ve had to pay three separate times for the heating/air company to come out because in the summer the thermostat is set to 74° and my house was at 9*° or this winter it was sat at *9°, yet my house hasn’t hit over *2°.

      Hello

My name is ******** ******, the assistant manager in the service office. I do apologize you have reached out with no conclusion. I do not see in my records any email being received from that email *****************. I was informed at some point there was a technical glitch within that email system. The service representative for your area is no longer with the company and we have now reassigned this area to another lady within the office. Her name is **** ********* Her email is ********************** and direct line is ************* My contact information will be ******************** and direct line is ************.

After reviewing your file, you purchased your home in July 2021; Warranty expired July 2022. Your first trip was completed on 8/19/2021- this order was completed and signed off on as completed by someone present at the home; The retailer billed back our company for an electrical issue with the bathroom and bedroom looks this was repaired 8/*/2021. We followed up with a return to the home on 9/2*/2021 for the remaining cosmetics. which also had a sign off on the order as completed. It seems we went back out one more additional time for a ceiling cracks and GFI on 12/20/2021. We do understand some of these orders were addressed following the warranty expiration but due to limited resources and the time frame we honored some of the homeowners request. It seems in the system and the file the last communication received was in December when the latest order was completed. I do see where you emailed in to the ***************** but we are showing no receipt of this email.

Your home is out of warranty but i will be following up with my manager upon his return Friday to see if there is anything we can do as the manufacture. With the AC unit, we do not install this or warranty. If the issue is within the furnace, you will need to contact the furnace company as they carry the warranty on that unit. If this is a issue with your outside unit, you will need to contact whomever you purchased your home from being the unit was apart of the sales end.

I will be following back up with the email or phone number listed in this complaint. If you would like to reach out by phone or email my information is listed above.
