- Tree fell on roof on 5/27/24; Breakwater assigned via State Farm to repair the abutment to the home, which was damaged by the tree.- Paid $8653.73 to Breakwater for the initial phase of construction, total to be paid after work was $13,767.46.- Breakwater conducted slow work on project, leaving the roof tarped for over a month. Repeatedly throughout this process, including for an entire week toward the end of construction, we were told daily that a work crew would arrive; they did not. - As they finally completed construction after two months, I (homeowner) discovered a dead possum in the area they had been working on. It smelled for days and the Breakwater site manager told me he would see about an exterminator. - Ultimately I had to pay for an exterminator -- the contractor claimed it was insurance's issue, which it is not. Exterminator told me this was "100%, undoubtedly" the contractor's fault, that the animal could not have gotten in any other way.- Now my home smells like dead possum and exterminator fluids, I have two holes in my ceiling, and Breakwater's customer service team has repeatedly told me that it is "only [my] opinion" that the animal got in on their watch and accused me of lying about the exterminator's assessment. - The business has done nothing to remediate this issue and has refused to accept any responsibility for it. I am withholding payment until they do. Rather than resolving the problem, the business has denied that there even *is* a problem. In order to settle this dispute, I would like Breakwater to deduct the cost of the exterminator from my final bill for the work. I think it is the least they could do.
