I went into Maui Tropix on 5/30/2023 and made a purchase of 3 pareos, 2 t-shirts and 3 stickers. On 6/09/2023, I just so happened to look at my receipt and realized that I was charged incorrectly by Maui Tropix. Instead of being charged for 2 t-shirts (2 x $21.59= $53.98), I was charged for 4 t-shirts (4 x $21.59= $107.96). I immediately called Maui Tropix and spoke with manager *****, who proceeded to tell me that their cameras only go so far back as 7 days. Therefore, because my purchase was made over 7 days ago, there was no way for them to go back to their camera system to verify what happened during my transaction. She stated that it was company policy and if theyre not able to verify the transaction, then theres nothing that they could do to help me. I asked to speak with the store owner which I never received a call. I called ***** back 3 times to plead with her about my issue and she stated that there wasnt anything they could do on their end but could suggest that I go through my credit card company to dispute the charge.Business response

*****, While we are always willing to review a purchase dispute. In this case we had no camera footage available to verify the correct items paid for, due to customer waiting too long to notify us. Our policy is in place due to customers not remembering or misplacing items purchased. We have no way of knowing if the items were in fact purchased and or misplaced and or stolen from the customers bag. Once the purchase has been made it is out of our hands unless we can watch footage of items being placed into the bag through our camera system. This is a courtesy to our customers only. Also, our cashiers process is to count how many items are being rung up and compare them to the items in the register. We then relate the exact dollar amount to the customer in hopes that if they feel overcharged we can address it at the time of purchase. The camera system is a fall back procedure if a customer has left the store and then feels they have been overcharged.
