August I was in a car accident and I went to this establishment to receive chiropractic help. I had mentioned multiple times I wanted to use my insurance because I was advised to do so from a family lawyer and also the car insurance who was helping settle my case. I had given his receptionist my insurance information and was told by her it was going to be processed and even checked on it two weeks after. Two months after I was settled from the company I got a call from the doctor being extremely rude and basically saying I didnt want to pay him. I never have been called by a doctor to settle my ****. The doctor was upset over the fact that the insurance company car insurance did not pay him out before they paid me. This had nothing to do with me he even stated that the car insurance would not respond to him for two months. He seemed to take this frustration out on me. He demanded to be paid by February 7 I believe and I told him to please run it through my insurance which is Iowa total care because he accepts Iowa total care and I also had spoke to Iowa total care lawyers and they told me I could file those doctor visits with them despite it being from a car accident because I would just pay out my insurance not **********************. He then goes on to tell me that that cant be done and I cant negotiate price with him in this would need to be paid in full he continued to be rude through the email and I honestly just feel discriminated over the fact that I have ******** because he admitted he could file it but said that it would take too long and he probably wouldnt get paid out. I then called in Iowa total care rep and was told to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and also a grievance with him to help get my **** settled. But he did say in his email that he hopes I pay my **** or further action will be taken. I feel threatened by him and honestly upset because he was someone I enjoy talking to. But he showed his true colors.Business response

Im responding to a complaint that I received in the mail from Comer Kite.
Much of what the patient said in the email is a lie and I can prove it. First of all the patient was in a car accident and came to my office for care. He claims in his complaint that he gave me his medical insurance and that he asked me to **** them. Thats a lie. Due to HIPAA I can not send you his paperwork but it says right on his intake forms from his first visit are you working with medical insurance? and he replied no. Also, we use a texting system to communicate with patients that prefer that form. Comers case was closed out on October 28. On November 23, the patient contacted me via the text system (so I still have proof) and informed me that he wanted me to send his claims to his ******************* Well I had already sent them to the car insurance company and was waiting to be paid by them thats normal protocol for car insurance cases. ************* cases take time to settle because they have to decide who is at fault and some times it goes to trial. Typically I will contact the car insurance company once a month to get an update on the status of the case. Well the agent that was handling Comers case was in the middle of retiring and was very poor at communicating with me. At the beginning of January when I was finally able to get ahold of someone, they informed me that his case was closed at the beginning of November and that they had paid him directly. So, ***** had been paid the money that was issued to pay off his medical bills. He never once contacted me to let me know that they had paid him or to make a payment on his account. After receiving the money in early November, he then tried to get me to **** his medical insurance and have them pay for his bills so that he could keep the money that was paid by the car insurance company. That is double billing for the same service and is fraud. I didnt know that he had already been paid until January, and at that point I emailed the patient to let him know of the status of his case and what he still owed and sent him an invoice. I never once DEMANDED that he pay by Feb 7. It was a simple invoice like we send to any patient that has a balance at the end of the month and there was no due date on it. The patient also signed on his intake forms in agreement that he is responsible for his **** and payment from third-party payers, insurance companies, lawyers, etc should be paid to my office.
Also, to say that I discriminated against him because of his insurance is ridiculous. ******** makes up 25-30% of my patient base. His complaint is full of lies that can be disproven. I put in the work to help him after his car accident. I simply want to be paid for the work that I did. He wants to take the help I gave him with his back and also the money that Im owed. Doesnt seem right to me.
Please let me know if you need anything else or if I wasnt clear on something and Ill do my best to clear it up. Thank you.
