    I tried to hire ****--Initially I thought he was right for the job. He came right over on a weekend. He seemed to be a very likeable guy. Handed me a biz card--w/only his first name on it-name of his biz & what his biz does on the back. No other info on the card--no biz address-or other contact info. No website or email. Just a phone number. He pulled out a small piece of paper to write down what I was telling him I needed done. Which was a lot. It was a derecho clean-up area. Moving a retaining wall to another part of my property. Tilling up old landscape--removing old **** stumps--& an orn tree *****--but he said a good two days worth of work. He said he would do it all by himself. It was a lot of detail to write on a bid. B/C he came over on a wkend--I contacted him b/c I said I had some others lined up--but they couldnt start till the end of the month. He asked me if I was avai now or tmrw--I said OK maybe tmrw--SUN. It was clear he wanted the work.He made it happen. Once he was at my place--he also said he could start as soon as the coming week. Not MON--but TUE. He wanted to beat the others I had lined up to do the work. B/C he knew I wanted it done sooner than later.B/C **** weather is unpredictable come early Fall. I said OK send me your BID.He left my home-said I will work it out & have it to you w/in an HR. This is on a SUN. I think OK this is great--someone that wants the work-& will make it happen. He called me & told me the cost (I thought it was a little high)--said it was a flat rate. Then I asked if anyone would help him--again-He said No. Asked him if he could put all the details in writing. Took him awhile to send it to my email-but he wrote a SHORT ********** it to my email--Nothing prof AT ALL. I had a prob w/ it--b/c it didnt include all the work he should do. I revised it. I put the bid in PRO format-Sent it back--then there was SILENCE. I sent him a text-when I didnt hear from him. B/C the job was to start next day. FYI- He didnt do the job.

    None of this is true. Due to circumstances that I do not wish to air online, I decided that it was best to not take this individual on as a customer. I always try my best and work hard to please my customers. In this situation, we were not a good fit. No service or payment was ever rendered.

    The response from this business (****) stating that what I experienced --is not true--is false--because I documented everything as is happened--and I am the one that chose NOT to hire him--for the reasons I documented. It was clear that I was not comfortable hiring him without the contract as he and I discussed the job when he came to my property. When I asked him to give me the estimate --in writing as discussed--that is when we began to have problems. When he gave me problems with that and he was not going to put it in writing--I decided I would not feel comfortable working with him. Mostly because he got angry with me about asking him to put it in writing--like any professional business would do--with a start and end date--and the job details. Any costs involved. I further felt others should know of my experience when I considered hiring him--and the events up to hiring him--because it matters when you post your business as a BBB credited business and then you have the experience I had. It was just a good thing that I was in a position where I did not have him on my property yet --and he could say he did work that he did not do--without a written agreement (because that is why you have it all in writing) --if he was not willing or able to work as he said he would do verbally (in writing)--and show up accordingly--and then he gave me problems about writing out a professional contract--imagine if I did not have one. (and there was a problem) I do not know this contractor from the next contractor--he may claim that he does great work--but I do not know that. (from meeting him on my property and walking around with him for a few minutes) This is why you get it in writing.
