I purchased a vehicle from Mike Molstead Motors in February 2022. The vehicle is a 2018 F150 Raptor. The Raptor was advertised as a clean title, clean carfax absolutely no issues. I went to trade in the vehicle in November of 2022 and was informed that the carfax was not indeed clean and that there was a "potential" rollback of the miles on the truck. I immediately reached out to Mike Molstead Motors on Wednesday November 9th and received an email back from Jordan ********************** claiming that he would fix the issue. I have since emailed 4 different times with no response back from the dealer. I have lost over 12K in trade in value and can not get a dealership to offer any money on the vehicle. I am stuck with this truck that does not have a clean carfax at no fault to my own. I am wanting to get out of this truck and get into something different but I cant do that due to the amount of money that has been lost due to an error not of my own. I am expecting **** ********************** to make this better and resolve the issue.

      **** -

I apologize for not getting back to you sooner on this complaint, it says it was from February 21st, but we did not receive it until March 4th.

The complaint from ***** that he has reached out to us 4 different times with no response is inaccurate. I have attached to this email my response to his latest emails back on February 21st, of which he has never replied.  I have also attached my original response to his first claim. His original complaint was that he felt his vehicle had a Branded Title for an inaccurate odometer. His claim that his truck has a branded title is flat out factually inaccurate. What appears to have happened is at some point a dealer fat fingered or innaccurately entered the miles to this truck for one oil change. If you look at the CarFax (which I will also attach) it shows the mileage being lower for oil change services with one specific shop in ************, then bouncing right back to the miles that were previously reported. This is simply a Carfax Vehicle history report inaccuracy, not anything that is reflected on the title. I have reached out to Carfax with no response to see if they could get the error fixed. I would recommend ***** do the same if he hasnt already. The Autocheck report shows ********** with the odometer.  In regard to *****'s claim that we said we would fix the issue on my first email, as you can see what I said was that I would talk to my title clerk about a DOT investigation to clear the issue. But I was told this is not a title issue in any way, so that would not be an effective remedy. The only way to get this cleared from the Carfax would be to have Carfax correct their report.

      Below I have attached :

      • The Carfax showing the error
      • The Autocheck showing no odometer issue
      • Both of my email correspondence with *****
      • The Copy fo the actual title showing it is a regular title with no brand of any kind
      • A Copy of the title application for ****** **** title showing a regular title
      • ************* original email complaint to us claiming he had a branded title vehicle

I would also like to address *********** saying he has lost over $12,000 in trade in value from this. You will see in my second correspondence I also told ************ I would be happy to trade for the truck and give him top dollar in the current market conditions for it.  Unfortunately we are not operating in the same environment as 2022 and value on ALL vehicles have dropped substantially . He also carried over a significant amount of negative equity from his previous vehicle also making it more difficult for him to trade. These two things have nothing to do with him having a Carfax discrepancy.  The amount I said I was willing to give him for his truck right now is still well above average JD Power or Black Book value for the year and miles. We have not deducted one dime for his Carfax having a mileage discrepency. He never responded to that email. We would still be happy to help him trade it in towards a different vehicle and give him fair value for the vehicle if we can make the numbers work with his negative equity situation.

I purchased a new truck in February of 2022. I traded in another vehicle at the time I purchased my new one but was issued a temp tag instead of my plates transferring over. After my temp tag expired I asked when my plates would arrive and was told it should be any day. Weeks went by and no plates ever showed up. I then called and called repeatedly trying to figure out was going on because I didnt want to be pulled over for expired temp tag. They told me I had to give them my truck until the issue was resolved. They provided me with a loaner vehicle with worse mpg and features than what I purchased. They have had my truck for nearly 2 months now and I cant seem to get an answer when Ill get my truck back. I am paying nearly $700/mo for a vehicle I cannot drive and they dont seem to care whether the issue gets resolved or not. With fuel prices climbing higher by the day, it has become financially aggravating for me to continue to pay more in fuel than I should be and driving a vehicle that doesnt even suit my needs.

I am writing this in response to the complaint from our customer ***************** who purchased a new ram from us back in Feb.  He had to first purchase his lease out so we he could get out of the lease and then use it as a trade on his new Ram.  We made a mistake in the office when the title came in for the vehicle he was leasing and traded back into us, and we sold the vehicle to another customer not realizing we needed *** to sign off on it first.  Because of this *** couldnt get his new registration for his truck and unfortunately it wasnt noticed until his temporary plate was about to expire.  When we noticed the issue, we got the bank and the *** involved right away to try and get it resolved.  *** had purchased a new 2022 Ram **** Eco Diesel and asked for an Eco diesel to drive since he couldnt drive his new vehicle.  The only eco diesel we had, had ******* miles on it but that is what he wanted so we agreed.  He was not happy about the miles the used truck had on it, so we offered to give him something with lower miles that was nicer, but he wanted the diesel because it got better mileage.  He then was going on vacation and needed something with a tonneau cover for his luggage and things he was traveling with.  We didnt have any other diesel trucks so we told him we would give him a truck with a tonneau cover, but it would have a v-8 engine.  He was not thrilled because the mileage wouldnt be as good, but he would not except anything other than a truck or large SUV which I did not have available at the time.  He has been saying his mileage is not great in the truck we gave him so we offered to give him something like a **** escape that would get excellent mileage, but he was not wanting to drive anything other than a truck.  Unfortunately, we are still waiting for the title as the bank has many processes, they must go through to issue a duplicate.  We have been in contact with the bank and *** on almost a daily basis trying to get it resolved and the bank is telling us it should be resolved very soon but it is out of our hands.  Last week *** told one of our sales managers that he wanted us to make his first month car payment, which is almost $700, and we agreed to do that. He said he was very happy and thanked us, so I was a bit surprised to get this letter from the BBB.  I just called *** tonight to see what else we could do to make him happy, and he mentioned the main reason he wrote the letter to the BBB was because he tried calling a few people at the store last week in a 4-hour time frame and everyone was busy, and since he didnt receive any call back until the following day he was frustrated.  I dont blame him at all for being frustrated with the situation as I would also be extremely frustrated if this happened to me so I asked him what I could do to make him happy.  He told me that if I were to pay for half of his gas until he gets his truck back that would make him happy.  I agreed to pay for half of his gas and I also without him asking told him I would make any other truck payments he has come due while we are trying to resolve the title issue.  *** said he was very happy with that and appreciated the offer.  We will continue to work as hard as we can to get his truck back to him and will do a much better job staying in daily communication with him as well.  If there is anything you need from me, please let me know and I will get it to you right away.
