STREET ADDRESS FOR RDC-All unknown. I used my street address to submit the complaint. His business card is attached with his email and phone number. I hired this contractor to do some cosmetic updates to my home including replacing interior doors, trim, and remodeling a small bathroom. He left the job 80% complete after throwing a temper tantrum when did not want to pay him in full for the job. He was 80% finished on Saturday, October 28th with a few hours of work to be done on Sunday, October 29 at 11am. He was a no show no call on Sunday. At 1pm I asked if he was coming and he responded that he had hurt his back. I wished him well and asked him to reach out to reschedule. *** since texted him twice with no response. (Texts attached). He left my job 80% complete with 4 holes in drywall, nail holes in trim, caulking on installed trim undone, and plumbing not functioning properly.

******** reached out to me to quote a bunch of random work between the trailer she was selling and the town home she was purchasing. She continually changed her mind on the work that she wanted me to quote as well as the work she wanted to hire me for. Because she was so indecisive we went with a few of the items that were important on her list. I agreed to do 50 hours of work at my rate of $60 an hour (5 days total) She paid half of that labor upfront and the remainder due when the work was complete. The five days she gave me (and said that they needed to be done only in those 5 days) were 10/13 thru 10/18. ******** insisted on purchasing her own materials. I do not typically allow this but she would not budge. This resulted in me making five trips on Monday 10/13 to Menards to collect the correct materials for the job. On Tuesday she called and told me that the movers would be there on Thursday so I would not be able to work on Thursday. She text me the night before (attached) and told me I had to have all of my things out for the townhouse for the movers. I agreed and said that I could come on Saturday 10/19 to make up for Thursday. I was trying to be accommodating to her schedule.

As for the painting, ******** stated that she went with someone else for paint. Text attached. She asked me to quote the work but never paid or agreed to the work. You can see in the attached text that was never agreed on. I did do some of the paint as it was necessary for me to finish my work. She said on the phone that she would be finishing the painting. The paint on the invoice was for painting materials I purchased so I could move forward with the work I agreed to.

I went to the trailer and did the extra work she asked me to do. I was well over my 50 hours but wanted to help her get all of the work she needed done, done. When I went back to the townhome, ******** and I got into an argument because she was holding the money she owed me as she did not understand how the hours were met but the work wasn't complete. I explained that she wasted a lot of one day with me running around to get materials as well as the work at the trailer and that my time is not free. That is when we wrote up that attached agreement that I would finish those items and ******** would give me the remaining $500 plus materials she owed me. I went to the townhome the following Monday and completed the work. Michelles approval was in the payment I received for the balance owed.

******** asked me to quote additional work. I did do the quote but had no intention of going back. I worked a total of 62 hours and was only paid for 50. No one would go back for the abuse of ********* demands and continual changes throughout the work. It was like she was trying to mix things up so that she could complain and get more hours for free. Withholding payment was a last straw for me.

I was not comfortable going back because of the way ******** treated me throughout the entire process. She also made incredibly insulting accusations while I was doing work for her. She gave me a key to her townhome so I was able to come and go to get the work done. When I showed up on Sunday, the door was locked. I was knocking and could hear the dog barking and no one came to the door. Being I had the key and assumed she couldnt hear me, I went in. Once I was in, I realized she was in the shower (upstairs) I went down to the basement to finish the bathroom and sent her a text that I was there and in the basement. From there, ******** berated me and implied that I had ill intentions.(Attached in text)  She said that she had been attacked before and implied I could be a ******. I packed up my tools, left her key and told her I was done working for her at that point. She later reached out and apologized and that is when we decided what I would finish only what we agreed on. The following day was the Monday that she refused to pay me. 10/23/23 - attached.

******** was horrible to work with and for. I refused to return her calls or texts once my original agreement was fulfilled and paid for as I will not be treated like that. The work was changed repeatedly. She was upset that I included the hours I worked at the trailer in the hours quoted and the time I spent paining (not included) plumbing (not included) putting together a vanity (not included) relocating her toilet (not included). ******** stated that the plumbing was incomplete (even though there was no charge for these) she stood in the bathroom with me and agreed verbally that the toilet worked properly - flushed and drained. ******** expected multiple jobs to be done for free and with her demanding demeanor, refusal to pay and indecisiveness, she got plenty of work for free from me.

I would like to point out that there were a lot of communication via the phone to change the agreement. This is a hard ****** learned for my business as there is not proof. I will never conduct business agreements with anyone without written consent to change the order. ******** taught me a lot of ******s on what NOT to do with a customer. I have a lot of very satisfied customers and have never had a complaint on the work I do. I also have never had a client as awful as ********. When I wouldn't return her calls and text to sign up for more abuse and demands - she started commenting on social media about how terrible I am as a business. This is detrimental to small businesses and there was zero validity to any of her accusations. She wrote to the BBB as another step to smear my name when I told her I would be getting a lawyer for her slander. Please know that I do not do business the way she is portraying and if anyone is "throwing a tantrum" Its the client, *************************, in this situation.
