      Unfortunately I could not post this review with ZERO stars. My husband and I stayed at Trout Lodge from May 13 to May 18, 2023. Upon arrival, we found the cabin absolutely filthy. Ground beef an inch thick on the oven floor, dirty dishes stored in the cabinets. The wrap-around deck is in such disrepair that we couldn’t walk on it barefoot because of splinters and popped screws. It’s amazing our dogs didn’t get hurt. The front stairs are completely rotted and extremely dangerous. Sitting in the torn deck chair, the chair fell through the decking. No skillets to cook with - all rusted. Screens with holes where wasps were entering the cabin. This business needs to be shut down. Someone is seriously going to get hurt or sick. They do not clean any comforters or rugs in between guest visits. The Owner, Cory, was 100% non-responsive during our stay, with the exception of the first night, when he sent his “friend” to vacuum out the disgusting oven. Lightbulbs missing throughout the entire cabin. Much worse is that he blocks people from posting honest reviews on his website and Facebook page. He photoshops his listings and it’s 100% deceptive. He’s going to get someone hurt someday because he maintains nothing on his properties.

      Do NOT EVER rent from Iowa Cabin Rentals. Contacted them twice in advance of our reservation date about their cancellation policy with no response. Cancelled our reservation thinking I would get my money refunded. Contacted the owner twice about receiving a refund with no response. Then called them after our date of reservation to find out that I was not getting a refund. Had I known, I would have found someone to take the cabin for the weekend. I gave them 3 weeks notice. Now I am out $511. A simple message or call to me to let me know I was not getting a refund would have allowed me to try to find others to book the cabin in our absence. Crooked business owners with horrible customer service and poor business practices!!!

      The cabin was not as it was advertised on their website. The oven broke the first day & wasn't fixed during our stay. We expected a few *********** as it was in the country but some of it was from long neglected cleaning. One of the bedrooms did NOT have a door. Another the bed was sitting on the floor instead of on a bedframe. There was supposed to have been a sofa bed in one of the bedrooms - not there. The "load" of firewood was a joke - plus it included lumber - some of which was treated lumber. The pond had some issue & the water level was very low as well as the 2 large pieces of equipment that were sitting by it. Certainly not picturesque as the photos. The cabin sleeps 12 but there were only 4 *************** Cooking pots were not large enough for a large group.I reported *************** to **** immediately. (We had already purchased food which we needed an oven to prepare.) Twice since we returned home I have asked for some compensation due to the inconvenience of ***************. I have not heard back. **************** is virtually non existent once you have paid then!

      My family stayed at illage Creek Lodge July 22, 23, 24 and 25 2021. This cabin is filthy, unhealthy and unsafe. I sent a message (below) to **** 30 minutes after arriving that I was not happy. 1. The kitchen floor is super sticky. 2. Fridge and freezer should be cleaned out. There were crumbs in both and purple stuff inside of the freezer. 3. There are crumbs in the cupboards and drawers. One drawer has mouse p*** in it. Gross!4. There is a fly strip full of flies above the kitchen sink. A clean one would be much better. 5. Your email said to latch the deck gate if there are small children. I dont see a latch. We have a toddler. 6. There is broken glass on the side of the cabin. 7. Outside chairs are unsafe. The 2 by the fire pit are broken. The porch chairs do not seem like they would hold a grown person. 8. There is a filthy dehumidifier on the counter in the laundry room.My follow up message asking for refund1.My son mopped the kitchen floor because it was so sticky. 2.We put dishes in the dishwasher and they were not clean. Ran it again and still not clean. 3.We were hesitant to use dishes and pans. We pulled out some to use and it had old food on it. So we used a whole lot of paper plates and plastic silverware. I want a refund of the cleaning fee. $125.00 4.The deck gate to the pool had broken boards making a hole that a toddler could get through. We had an 18 month old with us. 5.Mold in the basement so no one could sleep down there. I want a refund for 3 unused bedrooms. $910.00 6.A hole in the back of the cabin (possibly a well?) that had broken boards over it. Anyone could fall into the hole. 7.Did not have a fire because chairs were broken. I want a refund for the wood. $25.00 8.The dehumidifier was on the counter and filthy. It was not just a little dirty. It was not plugged in and running as you stated. 9.The grill was grossly dirty. 10.Some of the light fixtures dont work, or bulbs burned out. 11.***** screws sticking out on the deck. My grandson got a bad scratch for one of them. 12.No covers on the electrical box. Big safety issue. NO RESPONSE FROM OWNERS!!

      One star is too much. We checked in late afternoon to Chestnut Hill cabin. The lighting was extremely poor. Three table lamps and a floor lamp that didn't work. Ceiling light with low wattage bulbs. Bathroom with only two bulbs. Porch railing was rotten and falling apart. TV picture quality very poor. Should have been replaced a long time ago. Could not log on to internet. Texted Corey and responded 3 hours later, said the number should be on the router. Next day, TV not working. Asked if someone could come by to help. Told, no way to get there today. Cabin infested with flies. Whoever cleaned didn't spend much time, very dusty and dirty. No lighting over the sink or stove. Had to use flashlight to cook dinner. Texted Gabbi that we would be checking out next day. No reply. Never spoke with anyone, only text messages that were not answered in a timely fashion. Extremely poor management and customer service. Very disappointing experience.
