We boarded our dogs Charlie & Bear at Boji Bark in Milford, Iowa for three nights. I was more concerned with our 11 lb Shihtzu Charlie because he is small. I had called the prior two days & was informed that Charlie was doing good. When we picked him up they said he had green goop in his eye the day before & eyes were red today. When they brought him out , I looked at his eye & omg it was horrible. I said “wtf happened to his eye , he has blood coming out of it??” I ended up seeing 2 veterinarians one being from ISU Lloyd Vet Hosp due to his extensive eye rupture. I called the boarding facility & told them what happened & they told me they did nothing wrong & that we signed a waiver specifying that they were not liable!!! I entrusted my dog with their facility & he came out with the loss of vision in his eye. There was no offer of even a portion of the boarding cost or even the almost 1K of vet bills between both veterinarians plus our need to stay overnight at a hotel. Mind you my mom’s wake & burial were on Thurs & Fri of that same week. I’m so angry, sad & full of anxiety of what my 3 yr old Charlie’s future is with out vision in his right eye. If the owner of Boji Bark had any compassion or empathy for what just happened under their care of my dog & made any attempt to apologize & say “ we would like to extend a portion of any expenses of what happened to Charlie. No one should ever have to endure with their dog , what my dog Charlie now will have to endure for the rest of his natural life with no possibly sight in one eye!! They shrugged it off and said “well you signed a waiver & do you know what that means??” How dare they condescend me after my dog came out of their facility with damage to his eye & loss of vision!!! Please please do not support this boarding facility because it’s apparent that how your dog leaves their facility is not their responsibility!! I don’t want anyone to ever have to experience this sadness when they look into their baby’s face!!
