I contacted *************************** in October to get an estimate for a soil analysis and possible septic design. A few days later the contractor from ***************************, *************************, called me saying he was at my property taking a look. I found this unusual as we had not set up an appointment and he hadn't said anything about stopping by on the phone. I received an email from ***** on October 10th with an assessment of the land and what he recommended for the septic. I don't think a soil sample was done since I didn't receive an analysis. I asked a couple of follow-up questions which he answered. Two days later on October 12th, I received an email from ***** with an estimate and contract. It asked me to respond to the email to make sure we were on the same page. I replied thanking him for the estimate and I would let him know when I was ready to move forward. I was still obtaining other estimates and hadn't decided which to go with yet. I decided to go with a different contractor and simply didn't contact ***** again. A few days ago, I got a bill in the mail for $800 from ***************************. "Work was done prior to canceling this job." was written across the bill. I don't see how this could be since all I had asked for was an estimate. I didn't see any work done such as a soil analysis, nor did I request any work be done. I haven't paid the bill and don't feel I'm responsible to do so. I haven't contacted *************************** about the bill yet. I have emails I can provide to back up my claim but no phone records. FYI, the company I went with only charged $425 and provided me with a soil analysis before sending me a bill.
