04/07/2024 - I noticed bugs on the walls of my room and searched for more bugs and found some in the closet. I thought they were bed bugs and reported them to the maintenance portal. 04/08/2024 They had pest control come and inspect. I saw the note that pest control found bed bug evidence. I went in my bedroom to look and see if they fixed the issue, and it did not look like they treated anything. I noticed way more bugs around a bed bug proof cover I had on a memory foam mattress topper, and they were moving. I thought it was messed up they did not treat the problem the same day they found it. That night I stayed in a hotel. 04/09/2024 I came back from the hotel and was accosted by the building manager who took me in his office and was blaming me for causing the bugs. He said I took them to my hotel and also would not let me explain about this building being full of people coming and going, moving in and out, and college kids traveling. The bugs could have come from anywhere and he was blaming me for it. Said do I want to move out and he said I can get you for violating your lease. I asked another apartment manager of another nutstyle building to get me in contact with their boss at Nustyle coporate. I feel wronged by this situation. I am also neurodiverse and feel like ***** discriminates against me. I move a chair in the corner on the roof and he yells at me for it when I complain about people smoking weed in front of the cameras he says he never smells or sees it. I put a chair in the door to get a breeze and he yelled at me for that too. I think Nustyle should let me move to another apartment and I shouldnt have to stay where the bugs were. They werent going to do the first treatment until april 15th but I got them to do it on april 11th. I missed 3 days of work from being sick from bugs. I had to throw out my memory foam and I luckily dont see anything on my new mattress because it had a protector on it too.

      04/19/2024

After conducting a review of the complaint and collecting pertinent information, it has been ascertained that on April 7th, a resident reported the presence of bed bugs via the maintenance portal. Promptly, management took action, arranging for a pest control company to conduct an inspection of the unit on April 8th. Subsequently, the pest control company confirmed the presence of bed bugs. However, treatment of the unit is contingent upon the resident's completion of necessary preparation tasks, as outlined in the attached checklist provided to them.

The assessment conducted by the pest control company suggests that the infestation appears to be an isolated incident rather than a widespread infestation. Enclosed within this communication is a report issued by the pest control company, documenting their findings and actions taken. Following the initial treatment, which was deemed successful, the pest control company plans to conduct a follow-up inspection and treatment on April 25th as a precautionary measure.

For reference, attached alongside this correspondence is a copy of the lease agreement, which includes the Bed Bug Policy delineated within the rules and regulations section. BED BUG POLICY

Bed bugs are reddish-brown, wingless and very flat.  They are great “hitchhikers” and unknowingly get into furniture, luggage, clothing, blankets, pillows, pet bedding and souvenirs - so they can easily spread from place to place.  Bed bugs have been found in apartments, homes, hotels, motels, health care facilities, dormitories, shelters, schools and all types of transportation.
It is very important to take steps to prevent bed bugs from spreading and to completely eliminate them. If you believe you have bed bugs please contact the office immediately. A licensed pest control will come inspect your apartment at no charge to the resident.
      The owner/agent agrees to:
Have your apartment inspected if you discover bed bugs in your apartment.
Notify you if an apartment next to yours has discovered bed bugs and will inspect your apartment for infestation.
Treat your apartment specifically for bed bugs if an infestation is discovered.
Please do not attempt to self treat with bug bombs or other pesticides as this can be unsafe and can create health problems if not properly applied.
Eliminating bed bugs requires your cooperation.  Management will provide pest control treatment once a bed bug problem is identified.
It is the tenant’s responsibility to:
Notify the management immediately if you discover bed bugs in your unit.
Management will supply you with an integrated pest management plan (IMP) and will identify your responsibility in preparing your apartment for the treatment of bed bugs. If apartment preparation indicated is not complied with, management will consider this non-compliance and could result in lease termination. If it is determined that you are responsible for bed bug infestation and/or re-infestation occurs after the unit has been treated and found pest-free, management will charge you for the cost of treatment.  If the pest control professional identifies that the infestation of other units in your building was caused by you, you will be responsible for the cost of treating those units.  Recurrence of bed bug infestation will be considered non-compliance and could result in lease termination.

I was a tenant at one of the many apartment complexes owned by this company. 3/8/23 I was told that my emotional support animal (dog) had bitten another tenant. There was no proof of this occurring, nothing was reported to the humane society, and yet someone in Nustyle (I can give the name later if needed) told me that my ESA was no longer welcome on the premises effective immediately while threatening to report this alleged bite multiple times despite me complying with their demands. This decision rendered me homeless and option-less and forced me to move to a new apartment despite no evidence of this occurring. I never brought my ESA back and vacated myself after many conversations with Nustyle as I can’t live without my ESA, and despite being completely moved out of the apartment before 4/1/2023, I conceded to paying rent for the month of April as I was told they did not have enough time to rent it out by then. However, I was told that they would work hard to have it rented to ease my financial liability as it was them forcing me to vacate the apartment and rent a new apartment. This situation has cost me thousands of dollars not to mention unnecessary emotional stress. I was told today that they now expect me to pay rent for the month of May as well. However, they have failed to even list this apartment as available on the website, and they have not had anyone come to look at the apartment to my knowledge. After all that has happened throughout this situation, the actions of Nustyle have very negatively affected my life in many ways, and at this point to me seem to be only to exploit and harass a young tenant for no necessary purpose. I hoped to be given some grace on May rent as I moved out as fast as possible while living on couches and without the option of bringing my ESA on the property while packing/moving my things after being forced out of my home. I followed all of their expectations hoping to have them stay true to their word and they simply have not.
